Third person POV

The two were inseparable. Iwaizumi was Oikawa's shield, protectinghim from anything he deemed, dangerous, Oikawa was to emotional and precious to let him be hurt and Oikawa was his anchor, keeping him calm and away from trouble. When they were together, they were tucked away in their very own world. A place full of stars and multicolored lights swirling together. Nothing bad ever happened to them. Nothing.

As the year went on, Oikawa and Iwaizumi only got closer. Sure they had their own squabbles about who got to keep the volleyball or Oikawa's constant fear that Iwaizumi would leave him, which lead to him scaring off any young girls who tried talking to him without Oikawa by his side, but it was nothing that milk bread and vanilla ice cream couldn't fix.

Since the two insisted on spending every moment they could together, Oikawa's parents met Iwaizumi's and their own friendship kindled nicely. While the parents got coffee to discuss different topics from the comfort of a local cafe, the boys stayed in the park practising their spikes and sets like the professionals they watched on TV until the clouds were a peaceful shade of cotton candy and the parents had nothing left to say. This routine was repetitive sure, but it was comfortable, which is all everyone wanted.

There were days when once a month, the two pairs of parents allowed their children to skip school and spend the day together. These were known as adventure days. Iwaizumi and Oikawa would go hand in hand to whatever adventure they wanted to without looking back. The children often found themselves cooling off at the creek in the local forest, just behind the grocer. Beams of golden sun crept around each leaf, illuminating the area and the glimmering water.

As summer came to a close, the boys had to find a different way to spend these adventure days. They tried sitting in the cafe with their parents, but Iwaizumi kept flicking marshmallows and Oikawa and in return, he ate Iwaizumi's biscuits. The two ended up with a snot-nosed Oikwawa and infuriated Iwaizumi. The fight was only resolved two days later when Iwaizumi bought Oikawa a fresh milk bread. Naturally, he was forgiven instantly.

Two days before the boy's adventure day and they still no idea what to do. Oikawa suggested a day of board games, to which Iwaizumi called him a nerd, Iwaizumi suggested a day of movies, just to be called lazy by the teary-eyed Oikawa. As the walked around town, looking for something to do, the children bickered back and fourth, a new name leaving the boy's mouths with each step. They didn't even realise they weren't taking in air until both of them were out of breath with their heads aching. Instead of continuing once they caught their breath, giggles soon erupted to full on laughter that didn't stop until they reach Oikawa's house. "Hey 'Kawa," Iwaizumi said. "Yes Iwa-chan?" "Board games sound great!" He said, a small smile dancing on his lips. "Of course they do, I only the suggest the best!" Oikawa teased, running inside and closing the door before Iwaizumi could chase him. "Dont forget to meet me at the park at 8 on our adventure day Iwa-chan, bye!" Iwaizumi heard Oikawa scream as he walked away, that same smile resting on his mouth.

The next day, Oikawa never came into school. This confused Iwaizumi, since Oikawa would rather die than miss a day of school that wasn't one of their adventure days, but he didn't really have time to think about it since class was starting. Although he never focused on it throughout the day, something had been scratching at the back of his head, something that felt eerily similar to fear. It's nothing, Iwaizumi thought.

The next morning, Iwaizumi sat on the usual bench. It was 7.59 am. He watched the entrance to the gate in the direction that Oikwawa always came. They chose this specific position so that teachers and their friends wouldn't be able to see them. After what felt had been years, Iwaizumi decided to check the time. 8.14 it read. Oikawa was never this late, he thought. Then again, he remembered, Oikawa had been know to over sleep. He decided to wait a bit longer. Snow started to lightly trickle down, snowflakes lightly catching on his eyelashes. Soon though, the cold became unbearable, so he left. He was so angry at Oikawa for blowing him off.  With anger bubbling inside of him, Iwaizumi walked the usual 10 minute walk in the direction of Oikawa's house, snow squelching and crunching beneath his boots. As he approach the door, a small whimpering could be heard, a moment later, a messy looking Oikawa, with unruly hair, gloves that were dangling in his hands and a missing snow jacket, stumbled out of the house with red eyes.

Iwaizumi was shocked to say the least. While struggling to get his gloves on, Oikwaw took notice of Iwaizumi and stopped. He took a breath and soon felt all the emotions he had tried to pent up,  creep through each crack and it all  poured out. His eyes were blurry with tears, sobs were echoing through out the once peaceful winter morning and all he wanted was to hold Iwaizumi.

Iwaizumi ran to him, snow flying around him and gently hitting his coat. He jumped at Oikawa, pulling his closer as they fell gently on Oikawa's porch. "Iwa.." Oikawa managed to say, mumbling into Iwaizumi's coat. "They're sending me away..." a fresh stream of tears flowed down Oikawa's face. Iwaizumi's brain felt fizzled out. Like electronics that have had water poured over them. Instead of responding, Iwaizumi and Oikawa sat there hugging tightly. The latters parents came outside to find their son and his best friend embraced, in their own world.

A month later, Oikawa was waving at Iwaizumi from a train, on his way to his brand new boarding school. Who knew when he would return. "Make me proud, 'Kawa, keep playing and don't you dare forget me" Iwaizumi had said to him, trying to lighten the mood with a small chuckle. "Of course Iwa-chan, only this best from me remembered," Oikawa laughed lightly as well," and this isn't goodbye you should know, just a see you later." That was the last thing Oikawa had said before he had to get on the train.

"See you later then 'Kawa," Iwaizumi said softly, inaudible to the others around him, as Oikawa disappeared from view. "Make me proud."
