"MAKKIIII!" Argh, what the hell? "Hurry up you idiot!" I hear a familiar voice echo around the familiar room. An angry Makki starts yell profanities back at an equally angry Mattsun. These two idiots can't even survive the morning without arguing, but I'm sure they'll make up before their first class...CLASS!
I check the clock hanging above Makki and Mattsun's beds. It reads 8.12. Crap crap crap. My first class starts at 8.45 and I still need to get showered and make it to my class. Not to mention breakfast and the fact that Mattsun is only now in the shower.
"Oi!" I hear Makki say, since I'm the only other one in the room, I figured it's directed at me. "What," I say, irritable. "Here," Makki says as he tosses me two canisters. The labels read: Dry shampoo; dry shower. I'm about to thank him for helping me when he stops me. "Just hurry up, and do not forget deodorant, I'll meet you later if I dont see you at breakfast," he says as he steps out our room, a fresh uniform now on. He told me earlier that he and Mattsun both have P.E. as their last class so since they will already be changed, we can just meet by the entrance to the gym.
I get to work spraying the dry shower spray thing on me, noticing how it a faint scent of strawberries and cream. Whatever. Next comes the dry shampoo which was much needed and then finally followed by my uniform. As Mattsun walks out the bathroom, I rush in and put on deodorant, clean my teeth and brush my hair.
I walk out of the bathroom and check the clock once more as I put on my shoes. 8.29. Breakfast would be closed before I get there so I decide on just grabbing a bar from the vending machines out by the first year common room which just so happens to be by the classes. I rushed out of the room, making sure I locked it since I was the last one out.
I ran to the common room vending machines, which were a lot closer than I remember, and bought some kind of milk bread that I noticed was in there. There is only two minutes until my first class so I decide to eat it while I run. The class I was looking for was 1A which was easier to find than expected, which shouldn't be that surprising since it is the first class. I found an empty seat right at the back, last seat, last row.
The teacher came in and everyone in the class got out their stationary and their arithmetic books out. Arithmetic is actually one of my strongest subjects and I always got the highest Mark's in my class so this should be a breeze. Just before the clock struck 8.45, indicating the beginning of class, in strutted some guy.
He had light brown hair that was neatly styled in waves, with shiny brown eyes and clear, rosy skin. He was also tall and his build was skinny yet muscular. If you ask me, this guy just looks like any other twink you see around the campus, but something about him seemed to catch every girl's attention, a few guys and even the teacher stopped what she was doing. Oh lord.
"Sorry Onishi sensei, I got the classes mixed up," he said with a slight chuckle following. The class was so distracted by this guys pearly-white smile that I think they are forgetting we are in the middle of class. "It's no problem since it's the first day, okay," the teacher said,"just sit down anywhere."
Sadly, the guy started eyeing the seat to my left and it was clear he had chosen where he would be sitting. Yay. As he approached his seat, all eyes were on him and he didn't even seem to mind. I don't see why he's getting all this attention, he's just the average pretty boy.
Since it's just our first day, our teacher just spent the session explaining the curriculum and what we will learn this year and soon it was over. My next class was Japanese language and to my dismay pretty boy seemed to heading in the same direction. I sat down last seat, last row, and he followed right next to me on my left.
We had an early lunch today since out teacher wasn't feeling well and no substitutes were available. I sat with a girl named Yui and a boy named Rintaro who everyone just called Rin. They were both hoping to join the schools swim team since they had been in theirs at their middle schools, but the thing that was interesting was their parents. Yui's mom was a famous singer and her dad was a music producer, and Rin's were both actors that had been in a number of films that I had seen.
Not gonna lie, the more I talk to these guys here, the more I feel out of place. My mom just works an average office job and my father owns a restaurant. The only reason I was able to come here was because of my scholarship. Lunch came to a end and I made my way to programming class.
Thankfully pretty boy didn't seem to be in the same class for programming so I finally had sometime to be only. I had no interest in programming and I kept zoning out, thinking about how my tryout would go. I was so zoned out that I didn't notice the end of school bell.
I rushed to the locker rooms outside of the gym used for volleyball and slipped on a black sports t-shirt, black shorts, my knee pads and my volleyball shoes. Makki and Mattsun met up with me outside the entrance and we walked in side.
Looking around this gym, I have to say it's massive. There are two courts with their own ball baskets to go with it. A large store room was sat in the corner of the gym. Second and third years were gathered with the coach who was holding a clipboard.
"Come join us first years!" An upperclassmen called out and we all moved towards the now dispersing group. "Okay this is how it's going to work. Since we have enough first years, we will play a practise match. The two people who were previously liberos will play that position and the two previous captains will be captains. Those people raise your hands," the coach said.
I raised my hand proudly and looked around for the second. I noticed a pale hand behind the other players. "Perfect, you two step forward." I did as I was told and the shuffling behind me told me that the other did as well. I turned around to meet the eyes of the devil who had been next to me all day. This damn pretty bastard
"The teams have been chosen already and will be assigned to each captain, first, flip to see who serves first." Coach said before walking off to one side of the court and handing a coming to an upperclassmen. "Okay blue is you, Oikawa," he said, pointing to pretty boy, that name sounded...familiar, "and red is you, Iwaizumi," he pointed at me. He flipped it. It was red. "We choose receiving," I told him. I swear I saw pretty boy grin. "Okay then." Thankfully I have both Makki and Mattsun on my team so I'm fairly confident we will win.
Pretty boy got handed the ball and took his position away from the back line. After a few moments, the whistle was heard. Pretty boy inhaled and smiled a sinister smile. He started running and jumped. He hit the ball perfectly and before I knew it, the ball had hit our side of the court. With me trying to comprehend what is happening, the whistle was blown.
Our coach started speaking." Well done, Tooru, and excellent service ace!" This name. I can't help feeling a scratching at the back of my brain. My team are looking worried, and rightfully so, that was a great serve, but it was probably just a fluke. "Don't worry guys, seriously, we can get the next one. Just don't lose your heads and we'll be fine," I told them, trying to sound as reliable as I can.
The whistle blew again and the ball was tossed. Just like before, Oikawa had great form and his hand hit the ball in the best position possible. My hand barely skimmed the balls bumpy exterior by the time it was on our side. Another service ace, who was this guy. My team suddenly tensed up. I saw that pre- Oikawa was coming towards me. What now.
"You better start receiving those, or I might just beat you faster than anticipated, Iwa-chan," he said, a slimy grin playing on his face. That nickname. How does he...Oh lord. Why him.
"So it's you huh, 'Kawa," I said, trying to ignore the shake in my voice. "Oh! You remember me," he said, and for the first time, showed a genuine smile. "Of course, how could I forget the biggest cry baby on the planet, I was so happy when you left," I sneered at him, whether on not those words were doesn't matter. "I see you're feisty as ever!" He backed away laughing, "Anyway, let's get back to the games."
Well then, let the games begin. It's just you and me, 'Kawa. Or better yet, Great King.
