No POV After marvelling at the picnic Kageyama ran up to the food and waltzed around eyeing everything. He saw milks of all types, curry with an egg on top, curry buns and much more of his favourite foods! He couldn't wait to devour the food while talking to Tsukishima but before he sat down something caught his eye. A buckets of different coloured paint and a canvas was placed in the corner of the picnic spot. Most people didn't know that painting was one of Kageyama's favourite hobbies. He only once told Tsukishima, what he didn't know is that Tsukishima remembered. Kageyama felt happy as it was as if this picnic was made for him.
Tsukishima chuckled while watching the blueberry setter eye everything at the picnic. "So you want to eat?" Tsukishima exclaimed wanting to talk to the setter. "Of course!" Kageyama said excitedly! They sat down and talked about a bunch of topics, their home life, friendships, past relationships. It turns out that they've both never been on a date before. Tsukishima found out that Kageyama's parents died in a car crash and that he is left with his older sister. Kageyama found out that Tsukishima's brother lied to him about something important at a very young age.
Tsukishima saw that it was getting late and decided to do the fun activity. "Kageyama stand up!" Tsukishima announced. "Ok!" Kageyama said excitedly. Tsukishima brought out an art smock and put it around Kageyama then got one for himself. He then brought out a canvas. They took the paints that Kageyama spotted early and started doing some abstract art. They were slattering paint everywhere making a huge beautiful mess.

Kageyama was happy as he loved painting so much. Kageyama decided the painting was finished. He then decided to paint Tsukishima. They played around, painting each other. Every time Kageyama looked at Tsukishima he fell deeper in love with the blond, honey eyed setter. Every time Tsukishima gazed at Kageyama he felt himself get lost in his ocean eyes.
After painting, they got changed and cleaned their art smocks. They ended up spalashing each other with water from the taps they were using to clean. Smiling ear to ear they made their way back to the picnic.
After calming down from the intense activity they just took part in, Tsukishima asked a question that has been bothering him since they met today. "King, why do you never dress like this?" Tsukishima questioned. Kageyama went silent. Not many people know that Kageyama was servely bullied in middle school for liking skirts, make up etc.. His team made fun of him and his love for those outfits and Kageyama's mental help decreased because of this. His parents also disliked Kageyama's love for those outfits as well. The only person besides Miwa who didn't mind how Kageyama dressed was his grandfather. One day in middle school, after a day of being bullied Kageyama got a text saying his grandfather died. That's why he lashed out at everyone from then on.
Tsukishima noticed the silence and said, "you alright King?" Kageyama slowly nodded and decided to tell Tsukishima. "I got bullied 24/7 in middle school for the way I dressed. It was mentally draining and effected my health. My team was the worst, they bullied me every chance they got. I even remember them using the lyrics, "we're not pussys we're not girls except for Kags cuz he's just eww but we are strong and we shall rule, we are talented and we love volleyball" as a chant at an important match. My grandfather died that day and he was one of the only people who loved me for me. I started to snap at my teammates after that and that's were the whole King thing came from. I then stopped wearing outfits I was comfortable in." Tsukishima looked shocked. He felt horrible for all Kageyama, nobody should have to go through such a rough childhood. He also felt guilty for the amount of time he spent bullying him about his past before he liked the setter.
Tsukishima hugged Kageyama. Kageyama was shocked at first but eased into Tsukishima's touch. Kageyama felt tears streaming down his face. Tsukishima took his thumb, placed it on Kageyama's face, and wiped the tears away. They stayed like this for a while. It got dark and the pair decided to star gaze. Tsukishima taught Kageyama about the constellations and how there are an infinite number of stars. Kageyama told Tsukishima that Tsukishima's name suited the nights sky (it means moon). They cuddled each other mesmerised by the night sky.
After multiple conversations the same thoughts kept flying into their minds, "should I confess to him", "what if he rejects me" and "I really do love him".
They talked about every topic in the world and more. They enjoyed getting to know each other better. They loved each other's company. They loved each other.
Kageyama couldn't hold it in anymore. "Tsukishima..." he said, "Yes King?" Tsukishima replied. They sat up as Tsukishima could hear the seriousness and worry in Kageyama's voice. "I have something to confess." Kageyama continued. "And what is that?" Tsukishima asked. "I love someone from our team!" Tsukishima's heart shattered into pieces as he believed it wasn't him. "And who may that be King?" Tsukishima replied, needing to know the answer even though he believed it would break him.
"I love...."
Hehe yess cliffhanger!! 🥲 Sorry for the slow updates I'm doing two stories at once so it takes some time. I'm also starting a soulmate AU after finishing this one. There aren't many chapters left of the story, they're 2/3 more. I hope you all are enjoying this story!!! 🤗😈😘💕
