PRETEND

You smile and flick your hair, and I pretend not to care,

You sneer and smirk, and I act like it doesn't hurt,

And for a moment, I can convince myself that I don't love you any more.

But when you so carelessly wrap an arm around me, I feel it again,

That clench in my stomach, that burn behind my eyes that promises tears, because I do.

I care, I hurt, and above all, I still LOVE YOU!
