Zawad's P.O.V.
I woke up sharp at 7:30 a.m. beside her. She was still in a deep slumber. Her head was kept on my arm while her hair covered all of her face. We were in my room at my apartment in Dhaka. I have to leave this apartment soon as I have already resigned from this job a month ago. Today's probably the last day we are staying here. Then I'll move to Chittagong for the business and she to her parent's place.
Yet she decorated this room with her magic because she found my plain bedroom boring. Fairy lights and origami flowers hanging all over the wall. We came to Dhaka because her class is going to start from today and the worst part is I need to leave her again. And that means we are being separated. Even the thought of not lying by her side at night made my heart clench. I rolled over to my side and took her in my embrace while she was in a sound sleep.
"What time is it?"she mumbled in her slumber.
"6:30."
"WHAT?!!" she jumped out of my embrace, "Oh Allah, I have to get ready! I'll be late for my class!" She hurriedly took her dress and rushed into the washroom. My heart became somewhat heavy. There she is running for her class and here I am thinking how I'm going to survive without her. Maybe she won't miss me like I will miss her. Does she have the slightest clue how I feel about this? Does she feel the same about me? No, I don't think so. I feel like the only pathetic lot here.
She ran out of the washroom and tied her hijab while I kept looking at her back being a perfect example of misery. "Will you have your breakfast now with me?"she asked.
"No I'll eat later. You go."I replied.
"Okay, have a nice sleep. I'm going to make some breakfast." she took her bag and left.Seriously? Not even a kiss? Oh what am I thinking! Let alone kiss, she barely even looked at me.
I got up and brushed my teeth and then headed to the dining room. "Oh you got up? You want some breakfast?"she asked again.
"Yeah sure. "I took my seat beside her. "Let me drive you to the university today."
"You will?"she smiled.
"Sure, why not?"
At least I remember today's the last day even if you don't.
"Great!"she replied. After breakfast, we started driving towards our university and then she suddenly exclaimed, "Oh I completely forgot! Tonight my friends will be coming home. I'll be staying at Banani. Tonight will be girls' stay over wooh!"
"What?!"I was shocked to hear this sudden piece of information.
"Yeah, it's been so long we've stayed together! There's a lot to catch up with!"
I couldn't believe my ears. Wow. Here I'm being nonsensically emotional about our last night together and she's making plans with her friends? She didn't even bother to ask me once! She is just letting me know the information. She doesn't care a bit how I feel about it. Wow!"You didn't even ask me once!"I replied as I couldn't control my annoyance.
"Why do I have to ask about it? I'm going to my home. What's there to ask about?"she innocently replied."Oh wait a minute! Your home? Which one's your home actually? I'm confused, would you clarify Madam?"
She looked at me with surprise as I've never spoken to her with this tone before.
"Why are you talking to me like this Abir?""Like how?"
"Like this. In that tone. What's wrong with my going to my own home?!"
Oh now she's the one getting angry with me?"Your own home is the one where we live together!"I shouted with vexation, "You can't just make decisions on your own and then casually tell me on the way to your university! You have to tell me before you go to your parents' house. You can't just notify me about your plan with your friends on the very same day!"
