years before the events of IT...

on october 3rd, 1976, holly was born to josie and micheal matthews. their happy family didn't last long when holly was ripped out of their arms and sent to live with her aunt megan, her uncle josh, their daughter kimberly and three sons, jason, david and jackson, in charlottetown in 1980.

that didn't last long either when her uncle fell ill and died after three weeks of her living there. their children and holly got it, holly and jackson were the only ones to survive. megan blamed the death of the boys and kim on the two kids and quickly became abusive.

one night in the year of 1983, the house was broken into and megan was choked to death all while holly was getting food in the kitchen. police were called and both kids were placed into the foster care system.

after being in and out of houses for three years, holly final home was in derry, maine with katherine and linus porter. but here's the thing; they didn't even want holly in the first place, they wanted the money they got when they adopted her. but of course holly didn't know that.

for the first two years, the porter's house was almost like a dream. then, everything went down hill. katherine lost her job, and started to become a drug and alcohol addict. her and linus started fighting more often. linus started yelling more often (wether it was at kathrene, holly or james), and james started coming home drunk every night and he took his anger out her.

but of course being probably the most popular girl at school for the first two years in derry, she always had to act as if her life was perfect.

no one needed to know what her home life was like.
