The distance was all that mattered. Park Jimin wasn't stopping for anything and he sure as hell wasn't taking his foot off the gas for a little rain. Jennie's eyes stayed glued to the GPS display tracking Jimin's position while the world passed in a blur of red and white lights and her being pissed off as hell. The hiss of the tires over the smooth tarmac was lost under the pounding bass of their preferred get-away music. Jimin leaned over to turn it up. In that instant, he lost the opportunity to evade a newly broken-down car without its lights off. Even if he'd been paying attention he would have been hard-pressed to make the maneuver. As it was she barely had time to do anything before the airbags knocked him back and sideways. The car tumbled over and over into the central barrier before coming to an absolute stop. Silence; it scared Jimin more than the pain. Shouldn't Jimin be moaning or calling out? He tried to move but he was pinned by the collapsing roof and the steering column. His neck was too fragile to move.

Jennie's tires squealed as she pressed the brake pedal so fast. She unbuckled her seatbelt, she could feel her heart beating erratically as she grabbed her flashlight tied next to her gun holder. She ducked under the turned over car doors on the side where the driver seat was. Jennie didn't even try to avoid the puddle of the broken glass that was everywhere.

Jimin was there, in his seat still trapped under the opened airbag. His face was on the side, his nose was bleeding leaving red trails down his chin. She turned the flashlight under the car and over the hood to see if there was any sign of oil leaking. When she made sure the car won't explode, her full attention was on Jimin.

"Mr. Park?! Mr.Park?!" She shook his shoulders as her body was trembling hard, if he's dead she is dead too. "You stupid little brat, I told you to stay put damn it!" Her voice was shaky but it was still full of anger.

"Hello? Is anyone there? What is your emergency?!"

She forgot, she forgot she dialed 911 in a hurry to get Park Jimin out of the breakdown car unharmed.

"Hello?! Yes, yes I'm here! This is Jennie Kim, there was an accident on Highway 13, I have the son of the Park family here that need's immediate medical attention!"

The moment she mentioned the famous last name, the connection broke. She tossed the phone next to the car door as she tried to remove the golden bangs from the young Mafia boss's face. Even like this, he looked so gentle and free, like he was just taking his afternoon nap.

"You are breaking the rules now.." His voice was hoarse, like his throat was so dry it took him a lot of effort to tell her that.  Jennie smiled, but she still didn't move her finger off his forehead even though both of them broke the rules.

" After what you did tonight, I'm dead anyway!" She smiled through her whisper and they both knew she was telling the truth. The ambulance was a repurposed plumber's van. The roof lights were on a board anchored with old ropes and only one headlamp was in working order, winking into the wintry night. Jennie eyed the balding tires but what choice did she have? Before she'd even remembered how to breathe right she was inside next to Jimin, the sound of his sharp shallow breathing lost under the roar of the diesel engine and the rattle of the trolley bed.
