I am watching the clock, waiting for the bell to ring. The last day of high school for me forever. No more being trapped in a dust infested building for eight hours a day, being shoved against the lockers in the hall, and no more drama- school wise at least.
"Alright everyone," Mr. Alexander, my calculus teacher says, "I hope you enjoy your summer! Try to stay out of trouble!"
He finishes and not even a second later, the little red bell on the wall went off and everyone stood up, racing for the narrow doorway to leave.
I am one of the last ones out of the room, waving goodbye to Mr. Alexander as I exit.
I look up and down the hallways and see that they have surprisingly already started clearing out. Everyone was leaving out of any exterior doors they could find.
I slowly start making my way down the narrow, white hallway to get to the front office, where I will pick up my phone. I left it in one of my classes and the teacher gave it to the ladies at the front to give to me, since he was not going to be here for the last few days of school.
I look around me, to check to make sure I am not being followed because the last thing I need is for David and his crew annoying me.
Almost there, I think to myself, right when I hear, "Hey Kevin!"
Oh lord, not these idiots. I almost made it out without them bothering me. I decide to stop and be nice, since this is probably the last time I will see these people. They are apparently going off to college in some other country.
"Hey David," I say back in an annoyed tone, hoping he would pick up on it. He didn't.
David is about my height, orange hair, freckles, and very muscular.
"So, I was thinking. What about all four of us, you, me, Preston and Sam all go bowling tonight?"
"Hey, that sounds like a lot of fun, really," I say. "But I already promised my friend Melanie that I am going to come over tonight."
"Oh, that's alright," He says in a cheerful tone, "Well, in case I don't see you again,"
He comes up close and kisses me on the mouth. I just stand here in the middle of the hall, eyes wide open in shock as his friends stand behind and start giggling.
"I've always wanted to do that," David says with a big grin. "Goodbye Kevin, I will see you soon."
What the hell does that mean? I won't ever see him again because he is moving to a different country.
I put that thought aside and continue walking until I reach the main office. I knock quietly on the little glass window, and a click sound goes off, meaning the door has been unlocked. I turn the knob and push the heavy door with all my strength.
I am five feet and seven inches, one hundred and ten pounds so the door is like a brick wall to me.
"Hey Kevin," the lady announces from behind the desk. "You here for your phone?
"Yes, ma'am." She then hands me my iPhone and waves goodbye.
I turn around and swing open the door, walk across the hall and out the doors of the school.
I start walking to my car, parked in the senior lot on the side of the school, trying to push past the huge crowd of people walking towards the buses.
I soon come to realize how hot it is. The sun is beating down on my long sleeve shirt and slim light blue jeans, heating up my body.
"Why do I have to live in Georgia," I say as I get to my car, which is black meaning it is going to be hotter than hell inside.
I press the unlock button to my 2010 Camaro, that I bought myself may I add, and get in, leaving the door open for a quick second to let some of the heat out.
