"Doc, what the diagnosis? Is Destiny okay?" I heard my Beta and best friend Miranda ask. 

"It seem she somehow got a large amount of silver  into her system. For any normal werewolf, she would have been dead already, but since she is a hybrid, she wasn't affected as severely as normal. It only caused her some dizziness, and to pass out. Destiny should be good to go now, given the circumstances. Once she wakes up all will be fine and she can continue on like normal." I hear the doc said. 

" Y'all should really keep my name out of your mouth unless you're speaking to me." I popped out, frightening them.

"Jesus bitch. Don't scare me like that. Besides, me being a good bestie I was concerned about your well being."  Miranda shrieked. I winced. Advanced hearing you know... 

"Well, I'm better now, so let's get his show on the road. How long have I been out?"

"Uhm, just under 24 hours, so about a day." Miranda chirped, almost enthusiastically. I thought nothing of it. Normally anyone with silver poisoning goes into a coma-like state in order for their body to heal fully. The comatose state can last up to weeks, it just varies, but it has never lasted only one day. She was glad for the short while I was out, as was I. 

"Well shit. Where are the people I brought in? Have they been taken care of? Anything along the border? Any rogues? What about training, has everything been fine. Any new additions or losses? What about the garden? Any word from other packs?"

"Woah, woah, woah. Calm down. Let's worry about you first. You passed out in the middle of the day from silver poisoning. We need to figure out where it came from first." the pack doctor, Lilian, who was a close friend of mine. 

"No time. I have to go talk to the man and children I found. Someone was chasing them and he was protecting the children. I need to learn their story. We can investigate later."

"B-", Miranda began to say before I cut her off. 

"I will keep my guard up the pack and others' safety comes before mine. You know this, you know how I am. I need to make sure they are okay and I need to figure out if I need to contact the Elders or not. As soon as I figure out their story, I will give my own issues attention. As long as no other issues arise. Now, I'll be off." I spoke. Knowing Miranda she'd continue and argue with me. When she's mad, she's mad. There is no undoing it. You're doomed. I scurried off, literally afraid of her wrath.   

I reached the Alpha house, which was technically my place. I was rarely there, only when we had another pack visiting or I needed to spend some time alone. I usually ended up staying in the pack house, with the rest of my members. I disliked the solidity of it. I hated being alone. I've been alone most of my life, so now I relish in the companionship of the others. I love them like nothing I've ever loved before. I would lay my life down for my pack members, my family.  This was the Stone Pack, my pack. 

I had taken over the pack about 3 years ago. The previous Alpha was my mentor. Him and his wife, the Luna, were originally my foster parents. Then, they eventually adopted me, bringing me into their pack and their family. They both knew what I was, and apparently they also knew my parents. However, no matter how much I had begged them, they refused to tell me anything about them. They were the last ones to know who I was, but they were killed in an attack.  Now I have no way of knowing my past. 

I sighed, heading inside. I knew this was going to take a while to convince this mystery man to talk, and that I would have to be careful on my wording. This was going to take a long time.
