Mishap in the School Lab

Recovering

Zach woke up groggy and disoriented. He didn't know what had happened or where he was. It was surprising he remembered his own name.

"M-mia?" he asked, shifting his weight to the left. His whole body was throbbing with pain, yet he didn't seem to mind the girl laying on his chest.

She jumped a little when he called her name. Her eyes nearly filled with tears of joy

"Your awake!" she exclaimed.

"It would seem so. Thanks to you" Zach laughed weakly. He tried to sit up but winced in pain. "Ouch!" He cried and held his right arm. Blood was now seeping through his white shirt.

"Wait.. Don't sit up yet! I would imagine you would be in a lot of pain." She stood up and told him she was going to find the nurse.

"No. I'll be alright" He protested as he sat up against the wall near him.

"Stop joking. Your arm is hurt! I won't take long. Just sit here for a few seconds and I'll be right back."

"But I -" Zach sighed and gave up. He slumped against the wall letting his damp hair fall in his face. "Alright..." He said quietly, still wanting to protest.

The school nurse, Mrs. Riley, found Zach sitting against the wall sleeping. She was worried about the huge blood stain on the right side of his shirt.

"Zach? Wake up." Mrs. Riley said softly.

"Hmm?" He said, still half asleep.

"Oh good!" Riely said cheerfully. Then she picked him up , and carried him down to the office, which was quite a long walk away.

Halfway down the hall, Zach asked. "Where's Mia?"

"She's in the nurses office. She nearly fainted after telling me everything.

Zach cursed under his breath. "I knew I should have gone with her." He thought.

After arriving in the office, the nurse sat him down and gave him some pain medicine. He yelped as the medicine was spreading through out his body. It  felt like it was going to burn a hole through his stomach! The nurse instructed him to go to sleep to give the medicine time to take effect. Zach just laid there staring at the wall for 5 minutes. He turned his head to look at Mia,who was still sleeping, and thought of how grateful he was. If it hadn't been for her. He probably wouldn't be conscious right now. He soon fell asleep in peace.

Zach woke up to the sounds of dishes clanking, and running water. He yawned and sat up. He saw Mia washing dishes and humming to a song they learned in Japanese class.

"Hey Mia... Why are you washing dishes?" Zach asked

She stopped humming and turned around. She smiled brightly at him and said "I'm helping the nurse out"

"Oh okay." Then he noticed a small bandage under her bangs. "What happened" He asked and pointed at his for head.

"This? Probably broken glass or something." She answered, "But I see your arm stoped bleeding. How's the wrap holding up?"

"Wrap?" He lifted his blood stained sleeve and reveled a stretchy wrap covering the deep cut he had in his arm. "Oh! I didn't even know this was on here"

Zach got up to help Mia with the dishes.

"Oh my god! I just remembered!" He exclaimed. "Where's Lane and Blake?!"

They both looked at each other in total shock. "NURSE!"They both yelled at the same time, running out of the office to look for Mrs. Riely.

What happened:

It turns out both Lane and Blake were fine. They were just around the corner in the other room, just about to wake up.

Mia and Zach are also doing great. Zach's arm healed. ^_^
