Days later Abel gave Agatha and Chrissy permission to visit Mrs.Bodeit French dress shop. She had never been there before but it was rumored to be the best dress shop in town and she wanted the perfect dress for her coming out party.
Entering the shop Agatha noticed the green walls and thought it a curious color for the walls to be. Suddenly there was a small woman wearing round glasses in front of her beckoning them to come come in.
“I’m Mrs.Bodeit I’m with a customer in the back right now but I am almost finished so why don’t you look at the fabrics for a few moments.”
Mrs.Bodeit disappeared into the back room and left Agatha and Chrissy alone. Agatha walked over to a long table that held dozens of fabric Chrissy followed her.
“What color do you think I should have Chrissy?” Agatha asked holding up a bolt of black fabric covered in little yellow flowers.
“Definitely not that fabric!” Chrissy exclaimed.
“How about this?” Agatha held up another bolt of fabric that had to be the ugliest fabric on the table. It was a dark brown with with bright yellow stripes across it.
“Oh no that….” Chrissy was cut off.
“I certainly hope you aren't planning on getting that fabric to have your debutante dress made of.” A voice suddenly said.
Agatha and Chrissy both startled be the voice jumped Agatha nearly dropped the bolt of fabric. Agatha quickly whipped around to see who the voice was coming from.
“Mrs.Hall! Goodness you startled us.” Agatha placed a hand on her bosom. “Oh how pleasant to see you here today.”
Mrs.Hall ignored the fact that she had startled them. “A pleasure to you as well dear. You aren't really going to choose that fabric are you?” She asked again worry on her face.
“Goodness no! I was only teasing.”
“Oh, that is such a relief darling! I thought perhaps you were serious what with not having a Mother to help you pick Fabric out that maybe you didn’t know or not that that certain fabric is hideous!”
“Oh no Mrs.Hall. I would never pick such a fabric.”
“That’s a relief to me dear.”
Mrs. Bodeit entered the room and gasped out in her thick french accent. “Darling! surely you don’t want a dress in that fabric! I only bought that fabric for underlining things.”
Agatha quickly put the bolt of fabric on the table before anyone else walked in and asked her if she wanted a dress in that fabric.
Mrs Hall quickly answered for her. “No she doesnt.”
“Oh boone!” Mrs.Boneit said using the french word for good.
Mrs.Boneit turned to look back at Agatha. “Now what can I do for Miss...oh my I don’t even know your name.”
“I’m Miss Agatha Edsall and I’m hoping you can make me my debutante dress.”
“How grand! I love getting to make debutante dresses. I have some lovely fabric in the back room for your dress why don’t you follow me back.”
Mrs Hall came over and squeezed Agathas hand. “Thank you for inviting my children to your debutante. I can see that you are in fine hands here. I look forward to hearing about your dress.”
