---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once again I am forced to wake up to my alarm clock and get ready for every teens worst nightmare. Not the dentist, but school. High school to be exact. I am a freshman this year and you would think I am used to the rush, but I am not. Freshman year has been hell lately, maybe because it's not year. I know it's only 5 weeks into the school year but I am literally already dying.

My Mom made egg and toast for my quick breakfast to-go and my Dad is still in bed since it's 6 a.m and the bus arrives at 6:45 so I wake up at 5:30 just to get ready.

"Are we out of apple sauce pouches again?" I ask my Mom after looking in our fridge and seeing my favorite breakfast treat was gone.

"I am afraid so honey. I'll stop by the store on the way back from work to grab them." She responds, looking tired. That's just my mom though. I am her only child, yet she complains everyday about not getting enough sleep.

I ride my school bus to school taking a power nap on the way there. My school isn't that far so I only had like 7 minutes including the last bus stop we make to pick up other kids on the way to school.

Since today is a Tuesday, I know that I am not going to be as sluggish than I was yesterday. I enter the main area of my school where all the students wait until the bell rings and stop my small friend group sitting at our own special table that only we sit at.

"Benny! Spencer! James! Tammi!" I say happily greeting all my friends.

Benny is like our sympathetic and empathetic friend. He gives great advice no matter what is going on with us, our little ball of wisdom. He is so mature and clever I feel dumb whenever I talk to him, and listen to his advice because it's very helpful. Benny's shoulder is perfect to lean on.

Spencer is the clown of the group. It's an everyday mission to stir up some trouble and make everyone laugh at least something he does. No one will ever keep count on how many detentions this kid has, and it's not like he kept count either. But Spencer is a good friend when we need him.

James is a nerd and loves playing Mario. His Mom bought him all the Mario merch and games, his room looks like he's a Mario super fan. James is out of the ordinary, but Benny was able to become friends with him, so he became our friend soon after. James is good at science, he can't stop talking about it sometimes. I on the other hand hate it, and so does everyone else. But don't tell James that.

Lastly tiny Tammi. She's the smallest and the only girl in our group. Tammi wears a purple beanie that was given to her by her Mom who she says she never met, and her long blonde hair sticks out from under the hat . We call her Tiny Tammi or TT as a nickname but it's rare, I just call her Tammi even though her real name is Tamalia. Tammi is a normal non-girly girl, she's one of the boys which makes her easy to be a friend for her.

"Did you guys find an item to present at show and tell tomorrow?" James asks, since that's a school project where all students bring a valuable item to present in their class for a grade.

Benny nods his head, "I am going to bring a letter that I got from President Obama." He says.

"I am going to bring my dad's magic hat. The one that he pulled an actual live rabbit out of." Spencer says. "Trust me. That rabbit was pretty real." He adds.

"I don't know what I am going to bring yet. I'll ask my dad for help." Tammi says, adjusting her beanie on her head.

I didn't know what I was bringing either, my family doesn't have important valuables that I know of. Even if they did they would hide it from me in case I might take it or lose it maybe, not like those incidents happened before!

When the clock struck 7:30, all the students in the waiting room broke off from their friend groups and walked to their scheduled classes. I walk to my first period which is History, and I go with Benny since we have that class together. Our desks are right next to each other, that's how I became good friends with him and figured out that we had a lot in common.

"What if Mrs. Lance put salt packs in coffee instead of the sugar packs." Benny says, that meaning he wants to bet. It's an inside game Benny and I do to exchange a 1 dollar bill whenever we want it, but never spend it.

"One dollar." I respond to him as I take my seat. Benny's assumption was correct after Mrs. Lance stumbled into our classroom saying, "Sorry class my coffee was salty." With that, I gave Benny the one dollar. But I'll get it back.
