"It's only been two weeks being Marcella's translator and I am proud to say that I've fallen for her."
No one at my lunch table showed any interest in what I just said.
"Guys! Did you hear me?" I ask them.
Benny nods his head, "Yep. Loud and clear buddy." He says, eating his container of fruit.
"You having feelings for Marcella is not a shock." Tammi adds.
"Yeah. Yesterday you two were laughing at dog's wearing hats." quoted Spencer. "So?" I ask.
"That's not funny." My friends say in sync.
I fold my arms making a sad disappointed look.
"Why do you confess that you like her now?" Tammi asks, "Since you don't seem to have had feelings for her before."
I scratched the back of my head as I think of a good answer, "Marcella and I have become close these past few days. I've helped her with tons of things like with her English and understanding her homework. I mean if you guys had to practically be glued to someone for two weeks you would start to know things that he or she most likely never told anyone-"
Tammi interrupts. "You know something about her! What did she tell you?" She asks.
"No No! I'm not telling you guys. I pinkie promised her I wouldn't tell anyone." I say, looking at my right pinkie.
James gags, "Pinkie promise? Dude you're in high school. Pinkie promises are for people who still believe in cooties." He says causing the table to break out in snickers. Marcella still may like all the things a five or six year old would like but at least she's not a big baby, she has a state of maturity.
"Marcella is so cute. I've never seen anyone love blue the way she does." Tammi says. The fact that Marcella adores blue is my favorite thing about her.
"Guys! I am having a movie night tomorrow night and you all are invited." Spencer says, "We're going to binge watch the Shrek movies. For old times sake." He says.
"Aw. I didn't know you missed the past Spence." Benny says.
Spencer nods his head, "Yeah. I miss when we would watch the Dream Works movies and eat out of one big bowl of popcorn. Then fall asleep in the middle of the second or third movie and wake up completely clueless of last night." He says.
I blush remembering when me, Benny and Spencer did that as kids. James and Tammi on the other hand are late to the party so they gave us confused looks.
"You guys should come. Since you guys don't have childhood friends." Benny offers being the most polite person he is. Tammi and James happily agree. At that same time I also get an idea. "Guys? Can I bring-"
"Sure. You can bring Marcella."
I walked out of the cafeteria after saying goodbye to my friends and go to Marcella's classroom so we can go to fourth period. I waited at the door for her which is like a two minute wait since he teacher talks a lot.
Marcella walks out the classroom. "I don't like my English class, Sebin." She says looking tired.
"Why? Is it because you are the only person in that class?" I ask, starting our walk to fourth period.
Marcella shakes her head. "My teachers teaching method isn't fun. And I am being treated like a six year old again. She just gave me so much homework and is probably going to quiz me tomorrow. This is a little stressful..." She says, looking at the papers in her hands that she has to complete.
I felt a little bad for Marcella. One top of having to study for school, she has to learn English. "Just use Google Translate. Or if that doesn't work I'll just give you the answers." I offer and she definitely accepts.
"Thanks. These days have been long and I really want to rest." She says, as we enter our classroom sitting in our seats that are right next to each other.
"Speaking of rest. Spencer is hosting a movie night tomorrow. I want to invite you as our plus one." I say since my friends are now Marcella's friends. "Tammi will be there too. So you're not surrounded by a bunch of boys."
Marcella smiles at the idea. "You know. I've only had a movie night with my parents." She says, remembering the movies she watched with them. "I had a friend back in Korea who I watched movies with while we hanged out. But I've never had a movie night." She says.
"That's great. This is your first movie night. Now that you're our friend you can hang out with us outside of school." I say as I get my textbooks out for the class. "So what do you say?"
"I'll go!"
After school everyone showed up at Spencer's house at around six wearing their pajamas and bringing addition snacks to the slumber party.
I didn't exactly wear pajamas. I wore a t-shirt and sweatpants, probably to impress Marcella. My friends noticed and yes they picked on me a little.
Marcella arrived a little later than usual which made me worry for a second. When she joined us she looked exhausted from something, so I walked up to her to check in. "Hey are you okay? You look tired." I say sympathetically putting my hand on her shoulder and caress it just a little.
Marcella nods her head. "Yeah...just a little tired from all my English homework. My dad said I couldn't come until I finished all my work." She says, getting a cup of water.
I also get myself a drink as I talk to Marcella."Was the homework hard or something? You didn't text or call me for help." I say.
"It was a little hard but I managed on my own. Now I have a little headache because of all those words I had to memorize and write. I probably have a quiz when we get back to school..." She sighs, drinking more of her water.
Spencer buts into our conversation. "What are you two sweethearts talking about?" He asks in a teasingly way which made me turn red just a little while Marcella stared at Spencer due to not knowing what he said.
"We are talking like-"
"A couple? I figured. You two and your little love language. You two are just adorable." He coos at us and pats Marcella's head a little, which is a habit to most of the kids at school since they find her 'cute'.
I roll my eyes. "I told you since the day you officially met Marcella. We speak in Korean." I say. "But do you really think we are cute?" I change my mood actually liking when my friends compliment me and Marcella like that.
Spencer nods his head with a happy thumbs up. "Sorry Marcella. We we're just talking about something that happened at school. Nothing important." I say to Marcella not wanting her to feel left out.
"Hey guys? Let's go watch the movies."
