Chapter 6

Outside the dream

Lan Wangji had no idea how long he had sat in the forbidden room with his husband's head on is lap. He came out of his reverie when he felt his husband slightly twitch. Wei Wuxian was trembling and his face was contorted in pain. He was whispering something in a low voice.

Lan Wangji tried to shake his husband awake, "Wei Ying, wake up. Wei Ying."
But Wei Wuxian showed no signs of waking up. Lan Wangji felt like he was transported back in time. He felt helpless just like he was the first time.
Just then the library door opened and Lan Xichen walked in with Lan Bao an two more elders. Lan Bao went directly to where Wuxian was and bend down to check his pulse.
Lan Wangji watched as the elder started frowning and muttering under his breath. He asked," Elder Bao, what's wrong with Wei Ying?".
Elder Bao rose and said with a grave expression,"I am not exactly sure. But his pulse is really erratic and he seems to be at the verge of chi deviation. But there seems to be no physical issues to cause the problem."( Again I have zero knowledge about chi deviation. This is just to add more oil to the angst fire😂😂.... Bear with me ladies)
"What", Xichen exclaimed.
Lan Wangji became as still as a stone. No I will not lose Wei Ying again. If something happens this time I will kill myself with him.
Xichen looked at his brother carefully. Lan Wangji was never an expressive person. But Xichen has always been able to read his brother. Even though others called him emotionless and called Xichen knew how soft and sensitive his little Wangji was. Oh Wangji why is it that you are the one always suffering.
Xichen shook his head and looked at elder Bao and asked,"What should we do elder? Isn't there anything we can do?"
Elder Bao stroked his chin meditatively and said, "There are a few books in the forbidden section of the library. I need to refer some of them before I say something. Also send for Lan Qing. She will be able to help me. She is knowledgeable in chi deviation."
Xichen nodded and called Shizhui. "Shizhui look for elder Qing and inform her of the matters here. Tell her elder Bao has asked for her help."
Shizhui nodded and bowed and left the room.
Lan Bao again bent down near Lan Wangji and said," Wangji we should transfer him to a comfortable place so he can lie down properly."
Lan Wangji felt petulant. No noone is taking Wei Ying away from him.
Xichen slowly placed his his hand on his younger brother's shoulder and said," Elder Bao is right Wangji. Wei Gongzi should be comfortable. Also you cannot help him if you are in this state."
Yes help him, I have to help him. Wei Ying needs me. Lan Wangji felt he was emerging from a fog. He looked down at the handsome man on his lap. He slowly got up lifting Wei Wuxian in his arms and said,"He can rest in the Jingshi. I will take him there."
Xichen looked at elder Bao who nodded and said,"Yes, that is fine. Remember to light the calming incense day and night. It will help regulate the chi." (Again zero knowledge about anything related to calming incense or chi😂😂)
Lan Wangji nodded and started to walk toward the door and suddenly the dial started to shake dangerously. It started to emit dark blue light in all directions.
Wei Wuxian suddenly started spasming in Lan Wangji's hands so violently that the Lan jade almost dropped him.
Elder Bao said, "Bring him back. Seems like his life force is connected to the dial. This is more complicated than I thought. We cannot separate his body from the dial."
The Lan elders observing the dial nodded in assent. One of them, Lan Ren said," We need to inform about this to all elders. This issue is too complex to be handled by few of us. But make sure nobody else knows. We do not want panic or anyone trying to hurt young master Wei."
Xichen looked towards his brother and said,"Wangji, we should make a makeshift bed for Wei Gongzi here in the library. We can ask Shizhui and Jingyi for help. I will send a letter to uncle and inform other elders."
Lan Wangji tightened his hold on Wei Ying and slowly walked towards the dial. The spasming slowly stopped and Wei Wuxian appeared calm again. Wangji resumed his earlier position and sat down with Wuxian's head on his lap.
Right at the moment, Shizhui came back, bowed and said,"Elders, elder Qing said she will come in a few moments."
Xichen nodded and said,"Shizhui, we need to keep Wei Gongzi here. So we need to make a makeshift bed and other necessary arrangements. Call Jingyi to help you. Also make sure no one else knows about this."
Shizhui nodded and left the library.
Xichen said," Let me go and inform the elders." He bowed and left the room.
The elders started to make their way into the inner sections of the library.
Elder Bao said," We have to check few manuscripts before we can say anything. Let me know if Wei Gongzi shows any other signs."
Lan Wangji nodded and looked at Wei Wuxian.
Hang in there Wei Ying. We are going to save you.
