Riddhima's POV
I couldn't help but feel like a prisoner, stuck in this never-ending mehendi ceremony of a colony neighbour, surrounded by friends who seemed to be reveling in their perfect relationships. It had been a week since my life had turned upside down, courtesy of Vansh's relentless pursuit. I had tried to brush it off, to pretend like it was just a minor blip on the radar of my life, but the truth was, I couldn't shake him off. He was everywhere, his eyes haunting me, his smile taunting me.
As I sat amidst the colorful chaos of the mehendi ceremony, I couldn't help but feel like an outcast. My friends were all coupled up, flaunting their boyfriends like trophies. "My boyfriend is a civil servant," one of them said, her voice dripping with pride. Another one chimed in, "Mine is a pilot." I wanted to laugh and cry at the same time. What could I say? "My boyfriend is something I don't understand? I didn't think so.
The next day, I was sitting in my room, trying to process the events of the previous night. My phone buzzed, and I saw Aditi's name flashing on the screen. I smiled, knowing just what I needed - a dose of my best friend's wisdom and humor.
"Hey, girl!" Aditi exclaimed, as soon as I answered. "What's up? You've been MIA for days!"
I sighed, flopping back onto my bed. "I know, I know. It's just been...complicated."
"Complicated?" Aditi repeated, her voice dripping with curiosity. "What's going on? Spill the beans!"
I hesitated, unsure how much to reveal. But Aditi's encouraging tone put me at ease, and I found myself pouring out the whole story - Vansh, his confusing identity, the forced engagement...
Aditi listened attentively, making supportive noises and asking occasional questions. When I finished, she let out a low whistle.
"Girl, you're in deep," she said, chuckling. "But don't worry, I've got your back. We'll figure this out together."
I smiled, feeling a weight lift off my shoulders. "Thanks, Aditi. Just talking to you makes me feel better."
"Anytime, Riddhima!" Aditi replied. "Now, let's brainstorm. What are we going to do about Vansh?"
I giggled. "I have no idea. But I know one thing - I need to see you ASAP. Can you come over?"
"Already on my way," Aditi said. "With ice cream and chocolate. We're going to need it."
True to her word, Aditi arrived at my doorstep an hour later, armed with a tub of ice cream and a bag of chocolates. We spent the rest of the day lounging on my bed, devouring the treats and discussing my predicament.
Aditi shook her head, a smile playing on her lips. "I never thought you'd be the one to make him fall, Riddhima. But I guess life is full of twists and turns."
I blushed, feeling a flutter in my chest.
"But seriously, Riddhima, be careful," Aditi warned. "If he is really dangerous..... I don't even want to think about it. I had a hunch he looked mysterious from day 1."
I nodded, feeling a shiver run down my spine.
At one point, she turned to me with a mischievous grin. "You know, Riddhima, maybe this isn't so bad. I mean, Vansh sir is pretty hot..."
I playfully hit her with a pillow. "Diti, focus!"
She laughed. "Okay, okay. But seriously, what's the worst that could happen?"
I raised an eyebrow. "He could kidnap me and force me to marry him?"
Aditi waved her hand dismissively. "Pfft. Are you asking for that?"
