Ivy's mother, Maddie had also experienced some difficulties growing up. Her mother was a heroin addict and her father was an alcoholic and drug user. She had one older brother, one younger sister and five younger brothers. Maddie was raised in a religious household, her lifestyle was very important. Unfortunately her mother had kids with three separate men making all kids her half sibling. Her younger brothers and sister lived with their dad and her older brother lived with his dad. Maddie lived with her mother and dad.
Soon Maddie's mom and dad had lost their home and jobs due to addiction and Maddie had to live with her grandma. Her grandmother was very religious and she had to help her a lot because she was older. Soon she would be moving around house to house. She would stay with other church members, family and friends. Sometimes she would stay with her mom and step father. Her step father unfortunately was very abusive and would hit her mom and brothers. He would make his sons and Maddie fight or he would bend them over hay stacks and spank them with bamboo sticks.
Maddie was very religious since she was young, she was Norman, this could be considered a strict religion so she had some high expectations in certain houses like her grandparents house. That was until her uncle had sadly taken his life and of course, she was heartbroken. They were living together and she had just saw him, she needed help from her church for support. She needed faith he was okay, and they told her he was going to hell and they could not help her, and like a sane person: Maddie left that church and took some time to convert to Christianity. Maddie loves god and Jesus, those things do not come with judgement in her eyes.
Maddie had been through a series of unfortunate events and eventually had to take care of her siblings at a young age as well. She had to be their support system, but just like what usually happens, her younger siblings would fall into drug addiction at a young age. Her little sister was a little girl when she had first been drugged, she found out she would be drugged by her auntie and soon was addicted after. They had no idea why she had drugged her but they never found out. Maddie just like Lee would also sell drugs, and scan people. They would hang out with their younger siblings and they all became friends then their mutual friends because everyone's friends
Maddie had never arrested but Lee would mostly stay out of jail for the next four years but their younger siblings would be in and out. Maddie would always let her siblings in with open arms, she wouldn't turn anyone out. She cared for all. Unlike Lee, Maddie had graduated and focused to move on to school. Soon Maddie's dad moved into her grandma's house and she would come to visit them casually. Maddie did her best to prepare her future but needed to stop selling and using drugs, even recreationally. Lee and Maddie were everyone's dream couple, they looked beautiful together.
