Survivor

I've kept it in for way too long
Hoping that I could stay strong
To keep it in until I die
So others will never say goodbye
I would hide behind my mask
Until it all became too much
That I started to crumble with every touch
The only relief I could find
Was when the blade met my skin
But soon enough I wanted more
Even though my wrists were sore
I didn't know what to do
To get the help I needed
I needed someone to look in my eyes
And know I was about to cry
But look at me now
As I stand here
I survived the storm
I've come so far since
That very first cut
And now the marks on my skin
Show I'm a survivor
