Once we got it together again, I decided to ask, "What kind of kelp did she use?"
"What? No! You can't it's too risky do you want to lose control?!" Willow yelled at me.
"I can do it! Just give me a chance." I pleaded.
"If anything feels off or you aren't being yourself get back to the beach and we'll help you!", Willow said giving in.
"It's called Aura Tipped Kelp. It looks like normal kelp to humans but to us it's the color of northern lights. If you have at least one piece a day you should be ok.", Pearl told me.
We swam many miles and down into the twilight zone where I collected ten pieces, it should last me two weeks max.
Monday Morning:
I wake up and my parents already left for work, my Mom had made pancakes with a sticky note saying "Love you Ochako! Have a good day at school. ~Love Mom" Being under the Siren's curse I can't eat anything that isn't seafood. But what was ironic was I hated seafood, oh lucky me. I brought the food with me. Why am I already irritated? I don't remember if I ate anything yesterday so I packed my kelp lunch, making it look like a salad so no one would be suspicious. I put on my school uniform, brushed my teeth, and went to brush my hair in the mirror to realize my eyes were glowing a bright purple. Shoot! What am I going to do about that? It's like a beacon just yelling at you to look at my eyes. Maybe I could just pass them off as contacts. It was the best idea I had, but to keep myself safe I bought a pair of brown contacts online that matched my original eyes to use later. Hopefully they believe me. While walking to school I passed by a homeless person so I handed them my plate of pancakes, smiling.
At School:
"Hi Uraraka!", a voice said from behind me. I pretty much just jumped out of my skin but kept the scream internal.
"Oh hi Deku! You scared me for a sec.", I said without much excitement, ugh I need to be more bubbly but I was so drained.
"You ok? You seem kinda tired.", Deku asked. He's always so caring but I'm just so out of it. Putting on my best everything's ok face.
"Yeah just really tired.", I said looking at him. Iida caught up with us. "Uraraka, what happened to your eyes?! Are you feeling ok?", Iida said looking concerned.
"Yes, I'm fine. Also these are my new contacts!", I tried to act bubbly; it didn't come off how I wanted it to though.
Iida eyeballing me he asked,"Since when have you worn contacts?"
"Well, actually.", I had to think of something quick. "I was having difficulties reading the board at school so I went to the eye doctor. My vision wasn't very good so instead of glasses I got some cool contacts.", I tried to be convincing.
"Well I'm very glad you got it fixed quickly, if you didn't it could've ended up worse. . .", Iida continued with his hands making chopping motions.
Deku on the other hand, didn't seem convinced. He knew something was up, we both could tell.
At the End of Class:
"Ok class, I have an announcement.", Mr. Aizawa said. I don't know if I'm just paranoid but I'm pretty sure he was eyeballing me. "We are going to go on a field trip, to the beach.", he said in the most monotone voice ever. Then he continued, "Please note that we are going to tour an aquatic based Hero Agency so we aren't going to be playing at the beach. . .", he paused then said, "the whole time!", he let a small grin escape as he said that.
"Wait that means we get to go to the beach! Omg, yes!", shouted Mina who was sitting near the back of the class.
No, no, no, nonononono! This was a disaster, but like seriously what were the chances of a school beach vacation! I was so dead everyone is going to find out and then they'll send me away for being a monster.
My thoughts were interrupted by the bell, and I sprinted out doorway to the bathroom. I looked at myself in the mirror and realized that my eyes were starting to glow really brightly. I wonder if it has to do with my emotions? I calmed myself down the best that I could and starting making my way to the dorms. I kept my head down and as fate would have it bumped into Deku.
"I'm so sorry Deku, I should've been watching where I was going.", I glanced up to see him looking at me.
"No it's ok, it was totally my fault.", Deku said. "Uraraka, can I talk to you for a moment?", Deku had a serious look on his face and I knew he meant it.
"U-uh, sure. . .", I was kinda horrified. He grabbed my wrist and walked over to a spot where no else was in earshot.
"Uraraka, what's wrong?", he was looking me dead in the eyes, I stayed silent. He pleaded, "Uraraka, I can tell something is wrong. Please tell me so I can help." I turned away from him and whispered, "I'm sorry but you wouldn't understand." And for the second time that day I ran off.
