The spirit nodded and turned to leave but Fumzotl stopped him.

"I have a job for you," Fumzotl said.

The spirit looked at him expectedly.

"Spy on them for me. I need to know where they are and what they're doing. Keep track of their progress and if you can help them, do so." Fumzotl said.

The spirit hesitated. "Are you sure about that?"

"Are you questioning my orders, Andri?" Fumzotl asked, narrowing his eyes.

"N-no. Of course not." Andri quickly said. "I'll get straight to it."

"Good," Fumzotl said.

Emeraldis barged into the Meeting room, fuming.

"Darling, that's most unnecessary," Aero said as Emeraldis slammed the door.

"Most unnecessary? Most unnecessary?" Emeraldis shouted. "She just got her final member! She's most likely on her way to the Nation as we speak! How do you think I feel about that?"

"I think you forget we've all lost our children here," Sapphire said coldly.

"My condolences," Emeraldis said as she rolled her eyes. "Most unfortunate what happened to Adira. But we've got more pressing matters here."

Sapphire glared at her. Inferno stifled a laugh.

"You shouldn't be laughing. Both of you're children are traitors." Sapphire snapped.

"Both of my children are alive." Inferno boasted.

Sapphire clenched her fists. "Well-"

"They won't be soon," Topaz interrupted calmly. "None of your children will be."

"Your daughter won't either." Sapphire retorted.

"I know," Topaz said, completely unphased. "The journey to the Nation is brutal."

"Surely Skylar will be spared?" Aero asked.

"As I recall, Skylar made a big show as she left. She's openly accepted life as a traitor. She'll suffer the same consequences as the others. No exceptions will be made." Topaz said.

"Seems...fair...I suppose." Aero said quietly.

"I expected this sort of behavior from Phoenix, but never from Seraphina," Inferno said, shaking his head in disappointment. "Nevertheless to say, they're going to get what they deserve. No traitors can be allowed to live here with us."

"But an exile to Nation?" Aero asked.

"Only if they survive," Topaz said with an empty laugh.

"This calls for more than exile."

The others looked at Emeraldis. She took out a small black flower from her pocket and gently placed it in the middle of the grand circular table.

"Is that..?" Sapphire asked.

"It's a Dying Willflower," Emeraldis said impassively.

"So it's dead?" Inferno asked.

"No. It's dying, but it never fully dies." Emeraldis said.

"But...how?" Topaz asked.

"It's an Umbra Plant. They're starting to grow in the shadows of other plants and trees." Emeraldis said, disgusted. "The barriers are starting to get faulty."
