Streampaw bounded back to the Sunningrocks and saw Cascadeheart waiting for her there. Streampaw set down a squirrel, a mouse and two voles. Cascadeheart smiled warmly. "Good job, Streampaw!" She then looked out across the river. Cascadeheart sighed and looked back at Streampaw, who was shuffling her paws. "How are we going to get across?" Cascadeheart meowed.

"Well, I'm fast?" Streampaw replied, flicking her ears and getting ready to dive into the water. "No, what if something happens to you? I'll get in too much trouble." Cascadeheart shook her head, but it was no use. Streampaw leaped into the water and immediatly bursted with energy. She ignored the chill of the water and began swimming across the river, ignoring the current as well.

She could hear Cascadeheart dive in after her, but she was getting pushed back into a rock. She climbed on top of it and scraped her paws onto it. She yowled to Streampaw who's head bobbed back underwater, and she began swimming again, trying to kick off of the rock and succeeding.

Streampaw finally made it to the other side of the river and she clawed up. She then felt other paws gripping her back and pulling her up. Streampaw coughed up water and looked into the angry but weak eyes of Burningstar. "We saw how-" Streampaw coughed up more water, "Skinny you are." Streampaw prodded her stomach with her paw.

Burningstar's anger flooded away and Streampaw looked at her with sympathetic eyes. "There's been a shortage of fish in the water, and there aren't any real pieces of fresh-kill around here."

Cascadeheart suddenly climbed up with mice, voles, a fish from the river, and two squirrels. "Here." She managed to say and spit them all out of her mouth. "What's this-" "For you." Cascadeheart smiled. Burningstar stared at the fresh-kill. She ran to her Highrock and yowled out, "All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather beneath the Highrock for a meeting!"

All of the cats slowly gathered, and they growled once Streampaw and Cascadeheart padded up, but they stopped once they saw the food in their jaws.

"These cats have brought us food from their own territory, and are willing to share it." She pointed with her claws towards the fresh-kill. "Gather around and eat, we must build up our strength. But if you see any warriors of FeatherClan, do not disturb them without reason, because they have helped us."

She leaped off of the rock and took a vole for herself, leaving the other pieces of fresh-kill for her Clanmates. Fierceclaw, the deputy, stayed where he was, so Cascadeheart brought him a rather plump mouse and set it near his paws.

He stared at her and finally mewed back, "Thank you." He bent over to eat it and Cascadeheart smiled and walked back. Streampaw giggled at her and covered her muzzle with her paw.

"Streampaw." She growled and flicked her tail. "Let's go." She said in a more gentle voice. "Tomorrow," She looked into Burningstar's eyes, "We'll be back to deliver more fresh-kill."

Streampaw and Cascadeheart both practiced some hunting moves, and Cascadeheart finally let her apprentice race back to camp, as the sun was sinking in the horizon.

"Tomorrow you'll be in a hunting patrol." Mistypelt meowed to her daughter. "Has Cascadeheart taught you hunting moves yet?" She asked curiously, bighting down into a squirrel.

"Yes, mom." Streampaw mewed back tiredly. "Alright. Go get some fresh-kill and join your friends." She pointed to Ironpaw, Stormpaw and Frostpaw who were all eating on a big rock next to the apprentice's den.

Streampaw obeyed and strolled past her mother to the fresh-kill pile, grabbed a small vole, then padded over to her friends. She sat closest to Ironpaw as she dug into her vole. "Hey." He prodded her with his paw.

"What?" She mewed, gulping down a piece of her fresh-kill. "Do you remember spottedkit?" He asked her. "Yea, I remember her." She replied, eating the last of her fresh-kill. "Well, she's turning five moons old next moon." He pointed to the sky and the moon was claw-shaped.

"Oh." She nodded and sat up. Ironpaw sat up next to her. "So how did training go today?" Streampaw told him everything about it, but left out the part where she helped ShatteredClan. "Cool!" He meowed back to her. "I learned how to hunt. Tomorrow should we go in a hunting patrol together with Frostpaw and Stormpaw?"

"Are we allowed to go without a warrior?" Streampaw asked, tilting her head to one side. "Maybe.." He sighed, then yawned. "I don't know." He sank his head into his paws and closed his eyes. "Goodnight." He mewed.

Streampaw put her head in her paws too, as well as the other apprentices next to her. Silverpaw, Lightpaw and Dustypaw all stayed inside the den as the rest of the apprentices fell asleep next to each other.

Streampaw woke to someone prodding at her shoulder. She jumped up and saw Ironpaw fly back in surprise.

"Oh, sorry Ironpaw." She snickered, glancing around to look for Frostpaw and Stormpaw. Streampaw and Ironpaw both ran up to Mistypelt who was assigning the hunting patrols. "Frostpaw, Stormpaw and Sharptalon." She meowed to the three cats before they bounded off.

"Ironpaw, Silverpaw, Streampaw and Cascadeheart." She pointed to them as they gathered next to each other. "Rambleweed, Lightpaw, Dustypaw, Apricotheart." She assigned the last hunting patrol and they all bounded out of camp together.

The eight cats went their seperate ways and Ironpaw, Silverpaw, Streampaw and Cascadeheart were left on their own to find fresh-kill. "Alright." Cascadeheart halted. "Streampaw and Silverpaw-" Streampaw flicked her ears. "Streampaw and Ironpaw..?" Streampaw nodded. "Silverpaw, you and I will be hunting alone or together. Same with Streampaw and Ironpaw."

Ironpaw and Streampaw immediatly bounded off towards Sunningrocks. Streampaw slowed down purposefully so that Ironpaw wouldn't feel bad. "Losing your touch, Streampaw?" He snickered. "Oh really!?" She streaked past him, leaving him in the dust. Literally.

He coughed and sped up behind her, hard on her paws, but she was too quick for him. She ran past a giant oak tree and spotted a mouse running for it's life, so she grabbed it and bit into it's neck, still running. She felt it go limp in her jaws and she skidded to a halt. Ironpaw's jaw dropped. "You have to teach me that some day!"
