"Scarlett wake up! You're going to be late on your first day!" I felt a pillow smack my face and I was up in a second.

"Finally! I've been trying to wake you for ten minutes already." My mom smacked her forehead and exited my room.

"Why are you getting dressed up?" I rubbed my eyes to see my mom clearly. She was wearing a black pencil skirt and a black suit jacket with shoulder pads. I hate shoulder pads but she can pull them off I guess.

"Well I need to get all fancy for a job interview I have going on later."

"Oh really?" I began brushing my teeth as she told me more about the job. Something about having her own cubicle and all that.
"Well, good luck mom." I kissed her on the cheek before I went back to my room to pick out my clothes for school.

I wore some high waisted jeans with a black belt and a long sleeve light blue sweater. I put on my black high tops and grabbed an apple and leaned on the car, waiting for my mom to come out.

"Mom, come on!" I pretended to tap an invisible watch on my wrist as she began a little jog since she was wearing heels.

We both got in the car and headed off.

"Okay so your first period is right.... here!" The only nice office lady guided me down a hallway that was outside. California is so cool.

"Thank you." I smiled and opened the door stepping i to the classroom.

"Kids please take your seats!" The tired teacher stood at the chalkboard while two boys with Ripped up jean vests played with a paper airplane. I saw all of the girls were talking and the boys were fangirling over Madonna.

The teacher noticed me as I got farther from the door and sighed loudly somehow grasping everyone's attention and making them look at me.

"Class we have a new student. I believe you are Scarlett. Correct?" He looked at the papers he was holding in his hand then look at me, messing with his glasses.

I nodded and watched him point to an empty seat which I quickly went to sit in. I got stared at for a few seconds by all of the students but they went back to their conversations right after.

I spent the whole class with my head down and taking naps but finally sat up when the teacher said he had some announcements.

"Okay, so Friday is the Halloween dance. Make sure to dress up, APPROPRIATELY! And come have fun at the dance."

"Oooh, what are we going as?"
"We should definitely go and pick up some chicks"
"Sounds fun"

Everyone was talking about how fun the dance would be but I wasn't sure if I would even go...

"Scarlett! Over here!" I finally saw Ali for the first time today and I rushed over to her lunch table and exhaled setting down my tray.

"So, how's your first day?" She opened her juice and began drinking it. "It's horrible. I have no friends and there's so much going on." I placed my hands on my forehead and felt Ali's hands on my back.

"It's okay Scarlett. The first day is always hard. But you can make plenty of friends on Friday when we all attend the Halloween dance!" Ali giggled and clapped her hands and began speaking to her other friends at the table.

Then I guess I'll go to the dance. It's not like something bad will happen. I just have to get through the week quick enough.

"Hello?" I knocked at the door and waited for my mom to open it. "Are you kidding me?"
I groaned turning around and sliding my back down the door and sat on the floor. I knocked once more and leaned my head on the door still sitting on the floor.
