A relationship that was built from toxicity can never last long.
Lies, manipulation, bad influence were never a good mix. Tuesday finally broke free from it. She had dated Chris, her now ex-boyfriend, for almost a year. Their relationship started off well but later on he began to to show his real colors. He was very manipulative to her. It began when he started limiting the people she often talks to, making everybody off limits except for him. It was suffocating to the point where he controlled her every move, even her thoughts and speech.
When she asked for him to stop he would often reply with "It's for your own good" or " I did this because I love you." Her friend have noticed how worse her health had become. She looked like a walking ghoul ready to pass out. Even when they point to her out, she would shrugged it off. She completely ignored her family and friends while on the other hand she would spent most of her time with Chris. She had really believed that she could not do anything without him.
One day, Tuesday had a nightmare. In it there was an invisible collar wrapped around her neck. She felt uncomfortable when she could not remove it. The collar suddenly burned her skin. The longer it was on her neck the more pain she began to feel. She tried to remove it again but to no avail she was not successful. Tuesday could not breath properly and felt the collar, not only burning her, began to shrink as well making her suffocate. She began to claw her neck desperately for the invisible collar to come off. She had thought that she was going to die when she eventually woke up from her nightmare.
Tuesday got up from her bed and collected her thoughts. She had realized that her nightmare was a wake up call of all the horrible things her boyfriend did to her . She decided to finally cut her ties with Chris. She mustered up all her courage and called him. She decided to meet up with him in the park. There she would finally put an end to this toxic relationship.
The fateful day had arrived. Both of them stared at each other as if time had stopped. She glanced up to his face, closed her eyes and took a deep breath. With a heavy heart she uttered the words, "Let's break up Chris." She did not wait for him to speak because she knew that once he begged for her to come back, she would not be able to resist him. Without another word she turned her back to him and left.
Tuesday had felt that the heavy shackles tied to her vanished. She sighed deeply and a bittersweet smile was placed on her lips. This was her first taste of freedom. She no longer needed Chris. She knew that she will be fine on her own. No one would dictate her actions anymore, like a bird that eventually learned how to use it's own wings to fly beneath the endless blue sky. This was a memorable day for her. The day she was finally became an independent woman.
Although, there was a part of her that wanted to apologize to Chris and go back to him. In the back of her mind, doubt began to grow. venomous thoughts like 'Would I be able to do anything without him? Maybe breaking up with him was a bad idea. I need him.' She immediately slapped her cheeks for being negative. This was a momentous occasion for her and she needed to strengthen her will to move forward. It would be hard but Tuesday knew she could do it.
'Who knew being independent felt so great', she thought to herself. She began to move forward one step at a time.
