ok hi i know i said i wasn't going to be posting anymore chapters on here but i just wanted to address something real quick. i mentioned this before but never stated it publicly.
as i said before, i first wrote silence is gold when i was 13 and i'm 17 now. i was young and sheltered and didn't know that much about ptsd and mental illness and did little to no research on the topic. i do read all the comments that i get and i've been seeing a lot of people saying that i'm making ponyboy act like a toddler.
and to that i say: you're right. you're absolutely right. i did not portray him (someone with trauma) properly and i really did make him act like a little kid. i had no bad intentions at the time but it really didn't age well.
so i'm sorry for portraying ptsd in that manner. i know more about it and i think i'm more educated in mental illnesses. i recently wrote a short story for school that involved someone with ptsd and i think it's so much more well written than this.
to anyone reading silence is gold who didn't know very much about ptsd and trauma before: please don't take it as an example. it's nothing like what it really is at all. and i'm sorry for that.
i'm considering taking this book down due to its inaccuracy, but a lot of people seem to like it but idk. i just wanted to address this publicly.
thanks yall
