Over 100 reads! :D #270 on the Vampire list! Thank you! I kind of imagine Avery as brown haired Julianne Hough (girl from the new Footloose or Safe Haven)

Chapter Four

“Ermm okay?” I agreed with caution

Eloise’s grin got bigger as she sat down on the floor on the other end of the bars. “Come and take a seat” she said and motioned to the spot in front of her.

I slowly got off the bed and walked across the cold concrete floor towards Eloise. She looked friendly enough but after just being attacked by one vampire, I was skittish to be sat across from another.

“Don’t worry. I won’t bite” she teased.

I laughed nervously “Yeah but Caden does” I sat down whilst touching my neck softly.

Eloise flinched and gave me a sympathetic look “On my brother’s behalf, I apologise”

I shook my head “It’s okay. I think I provoked him anyway” It felt like I had to defend him for some reason.

Eloise’s face hardened “He could’ve killed you” she scowled at the floor.

“I’m probably not the first person he’s drank too much from” I tried to joke.

“Not at all” Eloise shook her head fast “He never loses control”

I frowned at looked to the floor. “What is so different about me?” I said quietly.

“I have a feeling that Caden and Luke both know the answer to that and I’m going to try and find out” Eloise said with fierceness.

“Why would you do that for me? You don’t even know me”

Eloise’s smile returned “I don’t know. I have a good feeling about you that’s all”

I laughed “You’re the first person to think that I’m not dangerous”

“Dangerous?” Eloise questioned with a laugh “You couldn’t even take me on! No offense!”

I smiled “None taken”

I liked the girl who sat in front of me. She made me feel calm and normal. Well as normal as I could seeing as I’m sat in a castle’s dungeons surrounded by people who claim to be vampires. It made me feel like I was stuck in some sort of dream, or nightmare depending on how the next few days here will pan out.

“Enough about my dickhead of a brother. Tell me about you” Eloise continued.

“Ermm what do you want to know?” I asked as I fiddled with the end of my dress. It only occurred to me then that I was still in the clothes from the night of Megan’s birthday party.

“I don’t know. Where you come from. Your family, friends” she listed off

“I’m Avery Brookes. I’m 19 years old and I live, well lived, in Watford, London. Ermm I’m an only child and still lived at home with my parents. Oh god my parents” I gasped as tears came to my eyes.

“Hey, they’ll be okay” Eloise said softly as she grabbed my hand through the bars. I looked down at Eloise’s hand in confusion as I expected it to be cold like you read in books but her hand was really warm.

“They’re going to be so worried”

“I can get someone to go to your parents’ house and compel them to think you’ve gone on holiday or something” Eloise offered.

The thought of someone compelling my parents made me feel sick but if it stops them worrying about me then I would do it “Okay” I said in a whisper.
