"one day that song won't make me cry anymore, one day I'll get of the bathroom floor, oh, piece by piece I'll be restored, but surely not today..."

not today

As I walked forth to say hello, Mrs Goodwin came in, so I went to my seat instead. We started with the usual good mornings and how were our break, which lasted about 10 minutes.
"Okay everyone, let's continue with Shakespeare. Amanda, on which page were we last?"
We completed the chapter we were busy with and the next one as well. There's something about Shakespeare's work that inspired me to write my own stories, so when I got the chance, I always searched for something to read about him or his work.
"Oh! I almost forgot," Mrs Goodwin suddenly said, "Everyone, this is Mr Will Halsted, he's a student teacher and will be with us for the next couple of weeks."
Well, well, well. Glad I didn't get myself embarrassed by the student teacher. Lexi would've loved that.
"He will also be teaching you guys if I'm not here the day or if the school has me running around. You guys know the drill."
I looked at him. He just smiled at everyone, but when our eyes met, he smiled a little more. Then he looked back down at our literature book. Okay. Could he please do that again? If Lexi was in my head at that moment, she would've been so proud. She's such a good, but bad influence on me.

"I'm so hungry I could die!" I said when I saw Lexi at lunch time. "Have Grace looked for her money yet?"
"Nope, not yet. I will give half of it back to her if she doesn't come for it in ten minutes, but the rest I'll keep until I get my book back."
"How about you steal it back? You've done it before."
"Where's the fun it that? Stealing stuff isn't as fun anymore."
"And making your sister starve is?" I asked, laughingly.
She rolled her eyes at me. She definitely hadn't been to English if she's not saying anything about the new teacher. She always had something to say about someone or something new.
"So, have you been to English yet?"
"Nope. I'm there after lunch, why?"
"No reason. There's just a new student teacher."
"Oooo! Spill the beans!"
I was about to answer her, but I was cut short by Grace yelling Lexi's name behind us. She just gave me a knowing smile and went to Grace. I wondered how long that was going to take. I almost spat out my water when I saw Mr Halsted making his way across the courtyard. He's taller than I thought. He was walking with a slight slouch and his hands were in his pockets. I hope Lexi doesn't see him before I could talk to her, because she would definitely had thought he's a new kid at school. Luckily, he was out of sight when she plopped back down next to me.
"What were you staring at?" She asked immediately.
"You don't wanna know." I was definitely not telling her was eyeing the new teacher, otherwise I'd never hear the end of it. "Anyway, the new teacher is a guy and his name is Will Halsted. He's apparently just going to sit in Goodwin's class and occasionally help out if she's not here or if she's busy."
"Yes! Finally! Some fresh blood!"
"Ugh, Lexi! You know Stefan is going to have a heart attack right!" I commented back with a TVD reference.
Lexi and I looked at each other with a straight face, then burst out laughing. No one should ever hear the conversations we have. They'd put us in a madhouse.
"What did Grace say about her lunch money?"
Lexi sighed and talked about it for the rest of lunch. After lunch, we parted ways again, but luckily we had Mathematics together, so we could talk further a little there. Wondering what she thought about the new teacher.

When I walked in class for the last two periods, Mr Willows, our Math teacher wasn't in class. Perfect. I hoped Lexi would come fast so we can talk. But in the end, Mr Willows was in class before Lexi. Guess we'd talk after school. The only problem was that the time went by so slow and Mr Willows gave us so much work, I forgot about the whole new teacher thing. The two periods of Mathematics, meant triple the work. I hate Mondays.
Finally the bell rang! It was only an hour and 15 minutes later, but it felt like three hours later. Lexi and I were usually the ones who were first out the door, not always and definitely not that day. She stayed behind longer, so I went and sat next to her. She didn't look okay. She looked heartbroken and angry.
"Okay, what happened?"
"Tyler happened, what else?" She said bluntly.
Oh boy. This is not good. When I finally thought she's over him, something happened with him and it always made her emotions weird.
"I thought we vomit every time we see, talk, hear, or think about him."
"We do, but he texted me right after lunch, saying that he's sorry and he hopes we can talk at track this afternoon..." She started sobbing and I put my arms around her so she can cry. Good thing Mr Willows likes me and Lexi, so he didn't mind if we stayed longer and talked (or cry today).
"Then, when I was coming to Maths to talk to you about new guy, I caught him making out with Maisey from the cheer squad, in front of everyone!"
"Oh honey! I'm sorry! But that bastard is not your tears worth."
"I know he isn't, but I fell so hard for him."
I held her tight until all her tears were cried out. It was one of those things that tore me apart, being so helpless when one of my closest friends were falling apart.
"You know what? How 'bout we go drown our sorrows in milkshakes and burgers? I'm sure you can skip one afternoon's practice?"
And so we did. We talked about everything and Lexi told me her thoughts on our new companion in English. Junk food always helps when your broken heart can't take anymore shattering.
