Under the Currents

I am drowning

in a never-ending pit of despair

I am screaming

yet my deafening decibels go nowhere

I am so deep beneath where the earth is

that I can no longer see the surface

The deeper I fall in

the more the darkness and silence surround me

Lying frozen

I am lulled to a false sense of tranquility

 Sinking still

The realization dawns that I can no longer flee

 I am engulfed by fear

And bit-by-bit it begins to suffocate me

Suddenly

Forces from down below 

Sink their ghastly claws

Grasping every single bone

Pulling me into the pitch black unknown

I retaliate

I screech and fight

 unable to annihilate

I panic

and strike back

growing manic

vision turning black

All attempts were in vein

Water seeping in just like a bane

Leaving behind scorching searing pain

It has infiltrated my system

Shattering my entire kingdom

Threatening me with horrid terrorism 

My hands reach out

As a final attempt

Last request

To pre-empt

It is no use

Just hand me the noose

I am fully consumed by the currents

 In everlasting durance

It's as if I was silenced

Tied down, defenseless

 And the pit was as wide as it was endless

 I am so deep, I sunder

Losing all hope .... I surrender.
