Hey everyone:) thought Bad Liar by Selena Gomez was perfection <3
_______________________________________As soon as I closed the door, I was met with Josephine, jumping in the air from shock when she saw me. If I didn't know any better, it looked like she was heading down the hall to eavesdrop...
"I was just coming to find you." She gasped, placing a hand over her heart, still in shock.
"Oh, good," I replied, "I was going to ask you something; I really need a ride back to the dorms and Hero is being a jerk right now..."
Josephine nodded in understanding.
"Yeah, no problem. I don't have much planned for today so I can take thirty minutes out of my day to do that. Go ahead and wait in the kitchen. I need to get my things together."
When she had finally disappeared, I took one last look at Hero's closed door. I didn't know if I was expecting him to run out the door or call for me, but I shook my head, dispelling these thoughts. It didn't matter. What had just happened was a pure accident and wholeheartedly stupid, on my part. I needed to head back before I got myself into any more trouble.
As I made my way to the table once more, I saw that Chad was still sitting in his chair, with an empty plate. He was looking over a stack of paperwork, squinting his eyes as if in deep thought. When he sensed my presence, he dropped his papers, apologizing immediately.
"I thought everyone had left," he tried explaining, "Otherwise I wouldn't have been so rude."
"Oh, it's okay," I shrugged, "I'm leaving anyway,"
"So soon?" He asked.
I sighed. "Yeah... I have a lot of studying to do for my classes. I wasn't even supposed to be here."
"What do you mean?" Chad raised an eyebrow. "You're Josephine's friend, right?"
I grew nervous, staring down at my fingers, which were now entwined together. "I am, but she didn't even know I was coming- Hero brought me here."
To my surprise, Chad grinned. "No worries. My parents have an open-door policy. They consider you family now."
I huffed. "That's not the issue. I just-"
"Look, this may not be my place," he began, "But I couldn't help but notice how he whisked you away... Hero is really adamant, isn't he?"
"Yeah, he can be."
"You really are a pretty girl," Chad went on, "Life is too short for you to allow someone to drag you around like that. I have known Hero for a very long time. He's a good guy... He just doesn't have the right set of mind sometimes."
I bit down on my lip, uncomfortable with the direction of this conversation. Already, both he and Josephine had warned me against Hero. What exactly was going on here? He surely couldn't be that bad.
Before Chad could elaborate much more, Josephine swung into the kitchen with her car keys, looking like she'd just freshened up.
"You ready?" she asked.
I cleared my throat. "Um... Y-yeah..."
I was glad when we finally made it to her car. Josephine quickly cranked up the heat in her car, turning on a slow ballad. I sighed, already feeling much calmer with her choice of music. I idly remembered the harsh, screaming vocals Hero had introduced me to.
"So," Josephine began as we made it down the cobbled drive, and onto the deserted road, "Did you and Hero have a chance to take that walk?"
For a moment I was confused.
"Hero said you two were taking a walk," She continued.
I blushed knowing that was the last thing that we had been up to.
"No, we decided to talk about stuff- school stuff." I lied.
Josephine scrunched her brows, in deep thought, like she didn't believe me. I decided that talking in any form was going to dig my hole deeper, so I wrapped my arms around my body remaining silent.
The whole ride to the dorm I couldn't help but wonder if Hero was regretting being so mean to me.
