Nicole landed in the yard of the Burrow only a short while later, with the twin's father, Arthur, having flown the blue Ford Angela across London. She laughed when Mrs. Weasley almost took over the wheel as soon as the tires started lifting from the ground. Luckily there weren't any casualties during their travels, or Nicole was sure that Molly would have turned the car to dust without a second thought. They all tumbled out of the car, Nicole following the twins into the chaotic lopsided building that she could tell was going to be her favorite place.
The crooked building oozed comfort and love, something Nicole's house always seemed to lack. Upon arrival to the lovely home, the two youngest Weasley's ran into the house, presumably to play some exploding snaps. She had not gotten the chance to get to know the younger two, but could feel her heart was ready to take on the big sister role for Ginny. Nicole had always wished that she had had siblings, in hopes one of them would have turned out like her, but neither of her parents wanted children after Nicole's magical abilities displayed themselves. Nicole considered this a waste of potential because she couldn't see anything wrong with having a gaggle of magical children, Mrs. Weasley seemed to be handling it just fine.
Bringing her mind back to the present, she noticed how the twins had begun climbing the long stairs towards what she assumed was their room. Nicole would be sharing a room with Ginny for this holiday, which she didn't mind in the slightest. She lugged her trunk to the end of the stairs right next to where the twins had deposited theirs, and carried her small bag with her beloved copy of Matilda with her in her pursuit for the twins. The boys' voices could be heard through the entire house as they blabbered on about some prank they wanted to pull on Ron the next day.
"Don't torture the kid, he's too innocent!" Nicole urged as she walked into the room that held two twin sized beds, each pushed up to opposing sides of the room. The walls were covered in quidditch posters, little men flying through them. In the middle of the wall between the two headboards was a small desk, cluttered with boxes and books. There was a small picture frame which held a lovely family photo of the red headed bunch.
"Please, the git is far from innocent! He told mum that we had advanced charms books in here and she took them!" Fred replied, his chest visibly deflating. "Yeah! And when we told him we were going to turn his teddy into a spider as payback he went and cried to mum too" George snapped, slightly angrier than his gangly counterpart.
"Just please refrain from scarring the poor kid while I am around, please? I am trying not to get your mum to hate me," Nicole further urged. "Also, since I left Matilda at the Owlery, is there any way I could use Errol to write my mother?"
"Of course, I think Ginny is up in Ron's room so you should have some privacy if that's what you need" Fred gently replied. Nicole may not have outwardly told the twins about her parents and their cold methods of parenting, but Fred was one to observe their small, quiet friend. She didn't go home for Christmas, she never talked about them, and as far as he knew they didn't approve of her being a witch.
With a nod, Nicole made her way toward Ginny's room, which she had passed on her way to find her puerile best friends. She entered and saw that her trunk had been moved in front of what appeared to be a cot, which she assumed was where she would be sleeping for the holiday. She curled onto the cot and pulled out her parchment and began to write to her darling mother.
Dear Mum and Dad,
Hello! I hope you both are enjoying the holidays! I made it to the Weasley's alright. Molly is very excited to have another girl in the house, she said something about being sick of all the messes the boys make.
Mum- classes are going well. I really enjoy Transfiguration and Charms. I think you would enjoy the books we got on those! How are things at home? Are you still going to go to Grandma's for Easter? If you do, please tell her I said hello!
Dad- I miss you! I hope work is going well. I will be home in the last week in June. Feel free to write back, I miss our conversations.
Best,
Nicole
Nicole rolled the parchment up and tied it with a ribbon. She sighed, knowing her parents were going to hate receiving this letter by owl, but it was her only form of mail so it would have to do. She honestly did not expect a reply, considering her mother was the only one out of her parents to have ever written during the term. Her father had insisted he had no reason to write her if she was as content at the "freak school" as she seemed to be according to the countless letters that had been written since September.
As she made her way to the kitchen to find Errol, she heard a child scream, only to be followed by the twins' laugh. They must have pranked Ron she thought to herself with a chuckle. Finally she spotted the family owl, perched on the windowsill overlooking the garden. Nicole tied her letter the the ankle of the owl and gave him the address of her home. Throughout the entire exchange with the frail owl, Molly Weasley's shrill voice could be heard all through the burrow as she screamed at Fred and George for turning poor Ronald's favorite teddy bear into a giant spider. This is going to be one crazy holiday, was the only thought left in Nicole's mind as a grin set itself on her face.
A/N
Hey guys! I am genuinely sorry for the like 3 month break I took, it was not intentional, but I think it will be beneficial. Sorry for the filler chapter of sorts, I want to set up some tension between her parents and the magic world, without spoiling the joy of a holiday at the Burrow.
