" may i have your attention please? "

a tall, severe-looking women with dark hair, that was tied up in a neat bun had gotten up from her chair. it was minerva mcgonagall. the sorting hat had finished sorting all the first years into their respective houses and everyone was eating and catching on all the details of each other's summer's. but as soon as the women spoke, the hall went silent and listened to what she had to say.

" as some of you may have noticed, there are owls outside.. anxious to drop their letters with each and every one of you above the age of 14 ."

a collective groan from all the students 14 and under echoed the room, thinking that whatever it was that those owls were carrying would be good. but that wasn't really the case..-

" for those with more curiosity. i will explain why it is that these owls are here today."

the professor exchanged a look with the headmaster before speaking. neither one nor the other seemed very pleased, and looking at their faces the students who were annoyed early were now quite relived.

" there is a new law implemented by the ministry."

the women said sternly before looking back at the crowded room who was as quiet as ever.

" this law states that all young wizards above the age of 14, are assigned to a partner, well, allow me to elaborate."

looks of confusion were filling the room in that moment. someone who really didn't look pleased was Victoria Flammia. allow me to present you to her the fastest way i can. she's what some people would call a mudblood. one of the only american students in hogwarts. best friends with the golden trio. a gryffindor. has anger management issues. is a very loyal friend. grunge looking. quite beautiful- well i'm going to stop now. because she also likes to be.. mysterious... anyways allow me to return to mcgonagall's speech-

" hundreds and hundreds of wizard blood was spilled because of you know who, so by order of the ministry, from now on pairs of young wizards will be made at random, so that they can marry and have children, i know that this isn't the fairest law, but-"

the tall black haired witch was interrupted by another who seemed ever so eager to take over the speech.

" it is indeed a fair law. as a matter fact, all laws made and vetoed by the ministry of magic are fair."

undersecretary professor dolores umbridge started her statement. leaving minerva ashamed to have been cut off.

" it is a law that will allow the wizarding world to evolve from such a great tragedy, and most important of all.. put it all behind us. cornelius and i had this magnificent idea over coffee almost a year ago. and only now we and our amazing team of ministers have made it possible to implement this into a law.
i just want to warn you about one thing.. wizards who don't marry and have children with their partner's can and WILL- "

the women continued speaking with her annoying voice as she put an emphasis on the word will.

" suffer a great deal of consequences.
these pairs are selected at random and i don't want to hear any of you complaining, because if you do so, it will be an offense to the ministry! to Cornelius Fudge himself! ...thank you Minerva.. the owls may come in."

the little women dressed in pink sat back down with a cocky smile in her face as the hundreds of owls flied across the room leaving letters to their designated wizards, and the tall black haired women went back to her sit, feeling utterly upset for having been interrupted by that verm of a women.

Draco Malfoy was not happy about this whatsoever. the idea that he had to get married and have kids with a random girl didn't sit right with him.

" what in merlins beard are those two nut jobs talking about?!"

he mumbled under his breath before a snow white owl came with his letter.. dropping it right in front of him. he took a few moments to think about who he wanted to get paired up with. as much as he wanted to be paired up with someone he knew he did NOT want to be paired with pansy for the love of god. he imagined her being all over him all the time, not that she wasn't already but it would be worse. the thought of raising a child with her as his wife crossed his mind and he shuddered at the thought.

' no thanks!'

the boy thought before placing his hands on the envelope lifting it up from the table and looking at it. he went over all the other possibilities of girls he wouldn't mind in his head but he didn't really have someone that he was hopping to get on the letter. his only wish was for her to be a slytherin and NOT pansy parkinson. with slightly trembling fingers the young malfoy heir and removes the red wax seal. removing the letter from the envelope he skims over it not really interested in reading  all about ' the severe damages he would suffer if he didn't follow the ministry's wishes.'  but then he finally found it.

two words in someone's script handwriting inbetween the printed letter copy that changed everything. what in salazar's name had he DONE to be paired with victoria flammia herself!? this was preposterous, his father was well-known in the ministry; how did he allow this to happen!?
