Life was never fair, just as how our world works. If you don't possess magic and power, you wont ever survive.
In my case, I possess vision. But not sight.
Truth to be told, I feel betrayed by the world I was born into. It gaveth me the power to see how each being feels. But I never saw mine. I never know how I truly feel.
"Are you hungry?"
"What did you say?" Naguguluhan kong tanong.
"You've been spacing out, Ellionai. Did you not sleep well?" I heard her sigh. "You know what? Just come with me."
"Yea, as if I have a choice, sorceress."
"Do you miss your father, Adi?"
"It's been years, Ellion. Please." Irritation is written all over her voice. Thats why, I know I have to stop asking.
The last time I asked her about her father, she didn't talk to me for so many weeks. Those were also the times Desma approached me saying she wants to be friends with me.
The introvert in me told her she's just playing with me. Just like other kids out there, telling me they want me to be their friend but turns out they only want to bully me. Because again, I am blind.
Sucks because I want to show them how to properly roll eyes. Kidding.
"So you're telling me you want to enroll in a magic school?" Tanong ko na mabilis niya namang sinang-ayunan.
"I thought you hate studying?"
"Yes, but I think that'd give me the opportunity to be a better sorceress."
"I already told my brother, Ellion." Tumango ako sa sinabi nito.
"Did he agree?"
"He told me, as long as its fine with you." I stopped chewing after hearing what she just said.
"Why me?"
"Because you are a sister to us. Ellionai, you know how important you are to me and to my brother." She held my hand. "You are always part of our plans."
"You don't have to, Adira. Its fine, okay? I'll be fine." I held her hand, reassuring her. "When will you go?"
"Winter." That would be a month from now?
"Are you sure you're going to be fine, Ellion? Pwede namang hindi na lang ako tumuloy."
"Of course, I'll be fine. Go, Adira. I also want what you want." Ngumiti ako, dahil alam kong mag-aalinlangan lamang siya. I dont want to depend on them anymore.
"Asan nga pala ang kapatid mo? Hindi ko pa ata siya nakikita ngayong araw." Pilit kong iniiba ang usapan dahil masyadong maganda ang araw para umiyak.
"Abir went to this certain senior sorcerer. He said he can help him complete the spell he's working on." Tumango ako sa sinabi nito. That guy, he's so passionate.
I envy him. He can do something out of his possession.
"Do you have plans today, Ellion?"
"Why? Do you want to go somewhere?" I fixed the utensils I used and wiped my lips.
"You know the café we usually visit?" Tumango ako sa tinuran niya. "They'll be hosting an event tonight. I was thinking you should join."
I can see colors of her excitement.
"An open-mic event." Oh, not again. "I would love to hear your voice again, Ellionai."
"Please, Ellion." I can feel her eagerness. "Ellionai, you love me naman e. Sige na, kahit isang kanta lang."
I heaved a sigh, accepting defeat. "Okay, then. Just one song, Adira Clovel."
I smiled as I see colors of her happiness.
"You wore white last night. So you should be in blue tonight." She started talking about how I should look in the event.
I am not really into dresses and everything about appearance.
I'd rather be in my pajamas but being with Adira gives me no choice. She's so competitive that I can never win against her. Even to his brother.
Desma, on the other hand is the opposite of her. Might also be the reason why they don't go along. But I know they're trying their best for me.
"I can't wait, Ellionai. When was the last time you sang for me?"
"The last time it rained, Adira. I knew you were listening to me sing that night."
"I'm sorry. It wasn't my intention."
"It's fine."
And I knew that time they were listening, Adira and him.
