The lion looked down at the lioness holding her three young cubs in her paws with a snarl. "Is the first one a boy?" He sounded almost in hope. She nodded. "Yes, my love. We have a boy. We also have two other-" She was cut off as he stared down at the cubs with a pleased smile. "Yes! A boy! That means a King! Which one is it? Is it the one that looks like me?" He looked towards Kazi's youngest sibling, his brother, who would one day be named Hadier.
Dream shook her head. "No," she gestured to Kazi, "this one is our eldest." Kazi looked up and giggled at his father, sensing a feeling of joy coming from the lion. Shard's expression changed as he turned to look at his oldest cub. "T-this one..?" Dream nodded. "Yes, Kazi will be the next King." Shard gave her a glare and rose up to stand above the laying lioness. "KAZI?! That's is NOT the name my successor will have!!" Shard's growling grew louder. Anger fueled his veins as his eyes flooded with intensity. "His name.." His eyes drifted to Kazi, "Will be Kifu." Dream shook her head as tears started to accumulate in her eyes. "No, Shard. My sons name will not be Death..." "WELL IT IS!!" He roared at her.
She nodded as she started to cry. "Okay, okay.. Kifu it is.." Shard circled around her, flicking his tail in anger as he did. "Oh, would you stop your wining!? Kifu is a great name! It will bring fear to those who appose him.." Dream's river of tears continued to fall. "But.. he's supposed to be King! That's no name for a ruler.." Shard had enough. "SILENCE!!" Dream looked down at the cubs, now squirming with uncomfort. "I will establish what is right and what is wrong and as my mate and my subject, you will obey me!!!!"
Dream pulled the cubs closer to her chest as she lowered her head down to hide with them. "..y-yes.. my love... what you say is r-right..." She clutched the cubs closer as their small weeps filled the cave. Shard grumbled in anger as he stormed out of the cave, leaving Dream and the cubs to cry in the coldness of the dark.
Writers note: Hey hope you guys are enjoying this so far! Also, a little more backstory on Kazi's origin! And yes, Kazi's name is still Kazi, but Kifu is the name that Shard wanted for him. Also, a little fun fact: Kifu means 'Death' in Swahili! Anyway, see y'all in the next chapter!
