Chapter 4: Truce (Blake's POV)
"You did what?" Vince gaped at me.
"I argued with her," I shrugged.
"Are you out of your stupid mind?!" he whisper-yelled.
"What?" I asked in confusion.
He shook his head, "Blake... She's Jonah's girlfriend now. If you argue with her, he'll see it. He'll realize it and he's gonna leave her."
"No, he won't," I rolled my eyes. "
Yes, he will. You know he will. He's the type to listen to his friends. Don't you remember that one girl? The one he really liked but we didn't think she was a nice girl for him and he left her? Yeah, things are gonna go like that."
"So?"
He looked at me, bewildered. "Blake, I know you act like you hate her and shit, but cut it out. I know you care about her, okay? Don't do something that'll make Jonah hurt her feelings."
I resisted another eye roll and stared at him, leaning against the kitchen counter. "So, what do you want me to do?"
"Put your hate aside, deal with her when you're alone. But for now, call a truce."
"Call a truce?" I scoffed.
"No way."
"Yes, way."
"Vince, no."
"Blake, yes."
"Do it for Jonah." I glared at him, letting out a huff. "Come on, he'll be so upset if you don't like her. And he actually really values your opinion. More than mine. Do it for Jonah," he nodded.
"I'll tell you what, I'll do a truce with her if she calls it. How she's gonna do that, up to you, my man." I patted his shoulder and then walked away to find Kimberley. She went to put my phone on charge somewhere and I need it back. "Have you seen Kimberley?" I asked my mom as I walked past her.
"She's sitting with the others in the living area."
I nodded and then went looking for her. I was about to call out her name when I saw that she was sitting with Hope. They both were sitting on the floor, their backs to me, and were talking and laughing.
I haven't heard her laugh in so long.
I felt someone bump my shoulder and that snapped me out of my daze. I turned to my left, seeing Jonah standing there. "She's amazing, isn't she? Look at how well she gets along with your sister. What do you think?" he asked.
I glanced at Jonah then back at Hope. I nodded slowly, "I think she's great," I mumbled. "Don't let her go."
I know I did.
Jonah smiled at me and then went and joined the others, not bothering Hope and Kimberley. I walked over there, standing behind them. I was about to tap my sister's shoulder when I realized what they're laughing at. Hope was showing her pictures from before she left. Pictures of her, me, Vince, all of us together. Pictures where I looked like shit. A scrawny kid I was.
"Shit, no way that's Blake," Kimberley said, zooming in on my face.
"Don't tell him I showed you these, he's gonna kill me."
"He's not gonna kill you," she rolled her eyes.
"Oh," Hope scoffed, "He will. He already hates me enough for leaving," she mumbled, taking the phone and turning it off, putting it screen down on the carpeted floor.
