False smiles,
false faces,
false personalities.
Pretending to be
someone that
one truly
isn't.
Fake voices,
fake glances,
fake lives.
But perhaps I can define "pretending" in a different way.
Let's make believe, shall we?
Fantastical castles,
made-up creatures,
pompous companions,
thrilling adventures.
A whole new world,
one that's completely
yours.
One that is full of
friends who don't betray,
real,
true friends,
and days full of relaxation,
without a care in the world.
But that just isn't how life goes.
Deceiving smiles,
lies,
a whole bunch of lies,
too many lies.
Pretend as though
nothing were wrong.
Nothing was bothering you,
nothing is out of place.
Everything is perfect.
But it's not. ,
You are just pretending that it is.
Pretending that one is alive,
doesn't always mean that one is.
One could be just breathing,
merely "appearing" to be alive.
But one could be drowning,
drowning in lies,
pain,
and
sorrow.
But we just pretend
just pretend to be happy
and content.
Or we can pretend to be somewhere else,
somewhere happier,
somewhere better,
than reality.
