"Mrs. Scone, want to hear the cute love songs?" one of my juniors, Zoe asks.
I click my pen, shifting my feet on my desk, eying her. "Did you finish your study guide?"
"No." She replies.
"Then no."
"Please? I'll finish after! It's only two songs!"
"Fine." I sigh. She grins and walks over to me.
"The first one is from twilight." She says.
"Oh, no, I don't wanna hear it. Go sit down and read or something."
"Please?" she asks.
"if Kristen Stewart sings it-"
"She doesn't."
"I really don't like her. You can ask-"
"Jones or Scone. I know. But she doesn't sing it."
"Fine." I sigh. She reaches over my shoulder and opens YouTube on my desktop computer.
We don't live in New Britain anymore. My entire family, including everyone in Dad's side and Mom's side and the same with Bradley's family, moved to a city called Andrews, Indiana. It's not that big. The population is only about 1,462. It's January and it's below zero outside.
My Geometry classes have a test tomorrow. I have four geometry classes, which is sophomores and freshmen, and then I have two algebra one classes which are Freshmen, and a few failing sophomores.
Zoe is a sophomore.
This is fifth period, and in exactly six minutes and forty two seconds, the bell for second lunch will ring and my husband will come in here for his lunch. I have first lunch but I skipped going to Bradley's room today because I had tutoring.
A song starts to play and I listen. It starts with piano.
Heart beats fast
Colors and promises
How to be brave?
How can I love when I'm afraid to fall?
But watching you stand alone,
All of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow.
One step closer
I have died every day waiting for you
Darling, don't be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
Time stands still
Beauty in all she is
I will be brave
I will not let anything take away
What's standing in front of me
Every breath
Every hour has come to this
One step closer
I have died every day waiting for you
Darling, don't be afraid I have loved you
