*Mackenzie's POV*
All I register is pain.
But I have no clue what is happening.
My vision is blurred, I can't feel my arm.
The only thing I hear is my blood thumping in my ears, but I know I'm being insulted. I'm kind of glad I can't hear it.
But I do hear a blood-curdling scream. It's not mine.
I move my head slightly - causing excruciating pain - and see my attacker knocked to the ground. Then I'm lifted and carried down the street. I see long brown hair, - barely - like mine.
Me: Ma...Maddie...?
She shushes me. It is Maddie. Why is she helping me?
~*~*~*~*~*~
I jolt awake - bad idea. My head starts to pound.
"She's awake!"
Who was that?
I open my eyes, but close them when the light hurts my eyes.
"Lights!"
Everything darkens. I open my eyes slowly. The first thing I see is a lady in a white doctor coat.
Doctor: Hi, Mackenzie. I'm Dr.Plasner. Don't worry, you're fine.
Me: What happened?
Dr.Plasner: Hold on on that. You'll have to talk to Dr.Waits first.
Me: Why?
Dr.Plasner: Oh, here he is!Way to answer my question. Dr.Plasner leaves as a tall male dressed in a black suit comes up to me. He pulls up a chair. Something about this makes me feel very uncomfortable.
Dr.Waits: So, Mackenzie. Let's talk.
He's way to cheery for me right now. I scowl at him.
Dr.Waits: What do you remember about yesterday?
Me(blunt): I went to school. I came home. I went to dance. I walked home. Now I'm here.
Dr.Waits: You walked all the way home?
Me: I thought I did. Maybe not. What does it matter?
Dr.Waits: So we know what happened to you. Your sister called 9-1-1 and said you were beaten up. She carried you away from the attacker.
Me: Was she the one who kicked her so she would fall?
Dr.Waits: I'm under the assumption, yes. Do you remember any of that?
Me: I'd really rather forget.
Dr.Waits: As soon as this is all over, you can.
Me: Why can't I forget now?
Dr.Waits: We need to know who did this.
Me: Well I don't know. So...sorry.
Dr.Waits: Do you know anyone who would know?Yes.
Me: No.
Dr.Waits: You're sure?No.
Me: Yes.
Dr.Waits: Okay...He writes something in a notebook. It bugs me.
Dr.Waits: Lets talk about why this girl beat you up. Does she have anything against you?
Me: I don't know. Maybe.
Dr.Waits: Maybe?I shrug.
Dr.Waits: Answer me why she would beat you up. Why she has anything against you.
Me: She's a crazy ex-girlfriend of some guy.
Dr.Waits: Some guy?
Me: Yeah. Whatever. I'm done talking.
Dr.Waits: We still have things to talk about.
Me: Ask Maddie then. I'm done.He seems to get it and gets up, then leaves. Good riddance.
*Maddie's POV*
Tears roll down my face as I stare at her. Her arm is bleeding heavily, even through the towels I've wrapped around them.
I can't believe I let this happen. This is all my fault. I shouldn't have let her walk home alone. I shouldn't have agreed to helping hurting her. This should be me.
The paramedics burst in the door. I jump up, and away from my sister.
Paramedic 1: What happened?
Me: She...She got beat up on the sidewalk. I moved her here so the girl couldn't hurt her. I know I shouldn't have-
Paramedic 2: As long as she stops losing blood, she'll be fine. Her pupils aren't dilated.
Paramedic 1: If you're coming with you have to sit in the passenger seat. Go. Quickly. In my dance clothes and a jacket, I run out to the ambulance.

I stand up as soon as the door opens. Dr.Waits comes out.
Me: How is she?
Dr.Waits: She isn't saying much. But she's definitely angry.
Me: What else is new?
Dr.Waits: She told me you knew some things. Let's go talk.We go down lots of winding hallways, to his office. I sit uncomfortably in the chair across from him.
Dr.Waits: So your sister told me she went to school, came home and went to dance. Correct?
I nod.
Dr.Waits: Then what? Do you know?
Me: She didn't wanna wait for my mom and me after dance, so she started walking home. I went a little after her, because I didn't feel like waiting either.
Dr.Waits: And that's when you found her?
Me: Yeah. She was on the ground. I saw blood by her arm. By reaction, I just kicked the girl who was standing there. Then took her home.
Dr.Waits: Do you know who that girl is?I feel tears coming on. I reach for a tissue and hold it in my tight fist.
Me: Her name is Kayla. She used to be my friend.
Dr.Waits: Used to be?I nod.
Dr.Waits: Why?
Me: She's insane. And took advantage of me when I was hurt.
Dr.Waits: You fells down the stairs, correct?
Me: Mhm. You did the memory stuff with me. And while I still didn't have the greatest memory, she convinced me Mackenzie hurt me and was the worst ever. So I would help get back at her.
Dr.Waits: How?
Me: She dated someone and they broke up like a year ago. He started talking to Mackenzie and now they're...I don't know. They might be dating. I have no clue. But she started rumors she was a whore and all that stuff. Got a text-free number to text her insults and threats. It didn't occur to me until about December I was doing bad things.
Dr.Waits: And then what?
Me: She started threatening me. And hit me a couple times when I wouldn't do what she wanted. So I kept taking pictures to make my sister look bad. Finally I just snapped.
Dr.Waits: What did you do about it?
Me: I warned her. Mackenzie blocked the number, so Kayla would just come back more. I texted her to warn her, because I wouldn't have gotten home in time. When I did get home, she was crying. I just ran to my room because I felt so guilty. I still am guilty.
Dr.Waits: Don't be. This is serious crime, believe it or not. What?
Me: It is?
Dr.Waits: Of course, yes. Threats. Cyberbullying. Violence. Did you save the threats she sent you?
Me: No. But Mackenzie has to have hers. And I screenshot Twitter.
Dr.Waits: Very well.
Me: Anything else?
Dr.Waits: When will your mother be getting here?
Me: I dunno.Mom came to pick me up yesterday. I don't think she came here today. If she is gonna be here, it's to pick me up.
Why doesn't she care? Greg is here. And if Dad finds out, he'll be here.
Dr.Waits lets me leave. I call Mom.
She answers in half a ring.
Mom: Hey, honey! Ready to be picked up!?
Me: No. But Dr.Waits wants to talk to you.
Mom: About what?
Me: Maybe the fact your daughter has a broken arm and got beaten up and has been tortured by girls at school for months!
Mom: Is that why she's there?
Me: Mom! What the hell? Stop caring about me for maybe 5 minutes and focus on the other daughter you have. The one that's better than me.I'm so angry and upset, I hang up. My feet carry me to the bathroom. Tears stream down my face and I sob.
