Marriko walked away into the darkness, fighting the urge to turn around and save her from her fate. Twice, she almost did but would start running to convince herself otherwise. She needed to get away. To get far away before they came looking for her. She stopped in an alley to catch her breath and review her options. The way she saw it, she could either go back and save Tamara. Or, she could do as Tamara said and run away. Live a new life somewhere else. She sat down and rolled her eyes. It was going to be a long time before she made a decision.
Daniel and Isabelle escorted Tamara to the cell Marriko was being kept in.
Surprisingly, she didn't struggle. She didn't try and fight back. She just walked right in. For a few hours, she just sat there. Not moving, not speaking. They had to check on her twice just to make sure she was even alive.
Isabelle stopped Daniel as he left the brig. "She's not showing any form of remorse. She killed her own parents, and she hasn't even shed one tear. She's fucking insane, Daniel."
Daniel shook his head and leaned against the wall. "She's asleep. Keep an eye on her for me, would you?"
He walked off and left Isabelle to guard her cell. She scoffed as she pulled up a chair to the door. Tamara smiled as she snapped awake. "Do you really think I'm insane, Izzy? Maybe you're the one that's insane."
Isabelle slammed her fist against the glass. "You're lucky. The only reason I haven't killed you is that I made a promise not to. You killed two of my closest friends. They were like family to me, and you slaughtered them." She was crying now; sliding down the door and sobbing like a sad child. Tamara smiled.
"You're right. I did slaughter them," she sat against the door. "Would you believe me if I said that they struck first?"
"Why would I believe that? You're a monster!"
Tamara chuckled. "When he said that a monster would rip you guys apart from the inside out, he didn't mean that in a literal sense. I did nothing to provoke them. They saw me and immediately went on the offensive. The monster is your mindset. You guys see something slightly out of the ordinary, and you turn into murderous antiheroes. There's no option to spare the bad guy, or in this case, girl. Once they're defeated, you kill them. I am not the monster. You are."
Isabelle opened the cuff hatch. "Your hands, Tamara."
Isabelle held the cuffs out so Tamara could slide her hands into them, but that isn't what Tamara did. Instead, she smacked Isabelle's hands with a tendril, then opened the door. Isabelle tried to strike her, but Tamara was expecting it and caught her hands with two of her tendrils. "I'm not going to kill you, but I won't have you standing in my way." she stabbed Isabelle in the stomach, then slammed her against the wall, knocking her out.
She looked down at her for a second, then used her tendrils to punch through the door. She walked to Isabelle's office and found the weapons she'd thrown down earlier. She snaked a tendril through the eye hole of Rapture's skull, then snatched up the dagger and walked back to the lobby.
"EVERYONE THAT'S BEEN TRYING TO STOP ME. GET OUT HERE NOW!" She bellowed.
Rone, Ali, and Stonevas arrived seconds later. Ali was twirling a ring of magic cards around himself. Rone wielded a shotgun that he kept leveled at Tamara's chest, ready to blow a hole through her. Stonevas was the only one that wielded no weapons. He stood there, staring intently into the evil eyes of Tamara.
It seemed to Tamara that he would rather attempt to reason with her than fight. She smiled, but this time she was less confident. She knew without a doubt that she could beat Ali and Rone. But as for Stonevas, she wasn't so sure. She threw Rapture's skull across the room and raised her tendrils to fight.
Rone made the first move. He fired two shots at her, then somersaulted over her and kicked her down. She hit the ground hard, seeing red for a moment before regaining herself. Rone tried to shoot her while she was down, but Tamara grabbed the barrel and forced it out of her face. She wrapped a tendril around his throat and held him in the air for everyone to see. "Any sudden moves and he dies."
Ali dropped the cards and held his hands up. Stonevas was nowhere in sight.
Tamara threw Rone down in a panic. Where the hell did he go?
She froze as she realized that he was behind her. She smiled
"Nice try." She lashed a tendril behind her and felt it rip through his chest. She brought him around to her front and lashed another tendril through his chest and around his heart. "So, this is the mighty Stonevas that everyone is afraid of? How pathetic." She slammed him against the ground and turned to Ali. She lashed a tendril through his skull and ripped out his brain.
Rone charged her from the side and she slashed his arms off. He hit the ground screaming in agony. Tamar smiled. "You guys are weaker than I thought. To be honest, I didn't think I'd make it this far." She lashed a tendril through his chest and sliced him in half horizontally. His body bit the ground with a sickening splat.
Tamara knelt down and picked up the dagger. She wiped the dirt from its blade and looked around at the carnage she had caused. For once, she actually felt bad about what she'd been doing. So many people had fallen before her. Her shirt was stained with the blood of who knew how many people. It was a depressing thought.
Her thoughts were interrupted as Stonevas-Infinite barreled her into the wall and pinned her there. He forced her to make eye contact. "Look into my mind. See the true meaning of infinity!"
Tamara screamed, then everything started to spin.
