Tamara stood at the gates of Recon, debating on whether or not she should go in, or wait on them to come to her. So far, her presence hadn't sparked any response. None of the guards were trying to arrest her, despite the fact that she was clearly trespassing on government property. She stared ahead at the three-story building, and into its windows at the beta crew. Everything seemed so peaceful here. She smiled. "I might actually feel bad about this." She launched herself over the gates and into the courtyard. Floodlights blinded her as she landed. Three guards on the roof pointed R.P.Gs at her. "You are trespassing on government property. Turn back now, or we will shoot." They said through a megaphone. Tamara smiled, then brandished her tendrils. "Here we go." She took a step in their direction and they fired the rockets at her. She used two of her tendrils to brace herself then used three to grab the projectiles. She used the last one to wave at them, challenging them to do it again, then turned the rockets toward the doors and let them loose. The following explosion sent a shockwave across the courtyard that nearly knocked Tamara down.
The guards stared down through the smoke, but Tamara had disappeared. They searched with thermal scanners but found nothing. Where the hell did she go? Soft laughter behind them caught their attention. They spun around and Tamara lashed a tendril around each of their throats. "Scream and I'll kill you. How do I open the vault?"
One of the guards handed over his ID. "Scan it at the door. It should grant you access."
Tamara released them. "Good boys. Now tell me: where is the magic dagger? The one that can kill immortals."
The guard on the left rubbed his neck. "Daniel's office. He keeps it in there."
Tamara smiled as her tendrils morphed into blades. "Thanks, boys." She turned away, then sliced their heads off.
She walked to the vault and scanned the ID the guard had given her. As promised, it opened. Two more guards approached her as the door opened. "Hey. What are you doing?"
Tamara didn't move. "Unless you want to die, then stay out of my way."
The guard reached for her gun and Tamara slashed her head off. The second guard ran away screaming.
Tamara entered the vault and stopped as she saw the red box she was looking for. The one that contained Rapture's skull. She reached out with her tendrils and grabbed it, setting off an alarm. The door slammed shut and guns erupted from the wall, opening fire on her. She quickly formed a shield around herself and knelt down. She waited until they ran out of ammo, then grabbed the box. It was then that she realized that she was trapped. She tried scanning the ID again, but it didn't work. Apparently, guards weren't allowed in here. She walked around the vault for a bit, searching for another form of an exit. After a few minutes, she found it. A small crack in the wall. She punched it, and the crack spread. She smiled and did it again and again until her knuckles bled.
"I need to think of another way. I'll never get through the wall at this rate." She looked around and found her answer. A box of C-4. She placed a block on the wall and stepped back as she armed the detonator, then formed a shield around herself before blowing the charges.
The wall blew apart and Tamara ended up back in the lobby. Now she just needed to find Daniel's office. It turned out to be to her immediate right. She ripped the door off its hinges and proceeded with her quest.
The dagger was in a display case by the wall. She smiled as she pulled it out and held it in her hand. The silver blade and the jade handle gave it a beautiful appearance. Too bad she had to use it. She walked out and stopped at the main road. Something felt off. She could hear Marriko crying out to her to save her. She slammed her fists against the blacktop, then activated Odia's comm line. "You sons of bitches. I swear if you hurt her, I'll make your deaths slow and painful."
Rone's voice came through. "Who is this? Charlotte?"
"You don't need to know who I am. You'll find out soon enough."
"Are you the queen?"
"Yes. I'll make you a deal. You release her, and I'll turn myself in."
"And how do we know we can trust you?
"You don't, but I'll give you my word anyway. I'll be there in an hour. If she's not released by then, I'll kill more people. Do we have a deal?"
A shuffling sound on the other end. "We have a deal. You know where to go, right?"
"Yes, I do." She shut the line off and teleported away.
