kaden: day two

I woke up strapped to a bed.

Just above my elbows and and my ankles had restraints over them. I craned my neck up and saw my wrist was bandaged. An IV was in the other arm. The room seemed like a hospital room. There was another bed in there, but it had the curtain pulled around it. A TV was stationed on the wall in the corner of the room, but it was off. It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. The smell was nonexistent. I couldn't smell a single thing. All of my senses just seemed to be shut off besides my sight, but that was limited.

A nurse came in with a tray of food. She smiled at me and pulled a chair up to my bedside. After situating herself next to me, I realized what she was about to do. She stuck the spoon into the bowl of soup she had and brought it to my mouth, but I refused to open it. I saw her mouth move, but I couldn't hear the words she said.

As she attempted to feed me again, I started to cry. I really thought I had done it this time, but I was wrong again. Full of shame and anger and humility, I cried silently in front of the nurse who finally gave up trying to feed me.
