When we got back into Kory's house we laid on the couch. We didn't talk much although I cried and he held me tight. He put in the movie Polar Express, to bad I fell asleep before the dancing men carrying hot chocolate came onto the screen. He rubbed my back until I fell asleep.
I don't know how much time passed before I heard, "Babe...” I couldn't tell if I was still asleep or if I was awake. "Baby," I was shaking.
"Hmm...”
"Alice honey, what's wrong? Why are you crying?" I'm crying? How long have I been crying? Why? I shook again. "What's wrong Alice, please wake up!" I was supposed to be awake, I'm not sleeping.
"Kory?"
"Alice!" he chirped, "Why are you crying? What's wrong, what happened?
"I-I don't remember...” my face was wet alone with Kory's shirt. I was tired and wanted to sleep. Just curl up into a ball beside him and never wake up.
"Are you okay though? Like..You’re not lying to me right, you really don’t know why you're crying?" he sounded very concerned.
"I'm not lying, I swear! H-h-how long have I been crying?"
" I don’t know, a few minutes, ten maybe. At first it was just moving, a lot. Then you started talking in your sleep," he wasn't looking at me as he explained what happened. I talked; I never talk in my sleep.
"Wait I was talking?" he nodded, "What did I say!?"
"Well," he laughed, "you said Channing Tatum is sexy, you also talked about your mom." I knew that he didn't plan to ever say "yo mama" jokes around me because my mom's dead.
"What about my mom?" Did I mention my dad?"
"No you said, "Mom come back! Don't take her!" and then you clutched my jacket and started crying."
"Oh..." I started messing with my hands again.
"Babe," he lifted my face, "will you please, tell me what happened to your mom?"
"She was murdered," there wasn't another good explanation. I looked down again to avoid eye contact which would lead to tears. "Sorry it's just a...touchy topic."
"That's fine, I was just, er, wondering if er," he kept pausing like he couldn't say it nicely, "if your dad had anything to do with it?"
"Are you suggesting my dad murdered my mom!?"
"No, well, I guess, sort of? Sorry! I shouldn't have said anything!"
"Oh. My. Lord, Kory!" He tried to grab my hand, I pulled away. "Don't touch me!"
"Alice!"
"No, Kory!"
"Alice I was just asking, I didn't know! You never told anyone."
"Obviously you don't know much of anything do you?"
"I know that I love you! I know that you used to love me."
"So now you think I don't love you!?"
"Yeah, I sort of do!"
"What the Hell Kory!?"
"Do you really think I'd believe you love me after all of this!?"
"Yes!" My hands flew around his neck, my lips to his. Moving at lightning speed, just us, nobody else mattered.
"So, uh, you still love me then?" It was hard to talk with his lips crushing mine and vice versa.
"Oh yeah, forever," I breathed.
"And ever?"
"Is that a promise?"
