Chapter three: the blood field

He was half unconscious when the sound of a large clanging bell seeped into his ears. He awoke looking puzzled and unaware of his unpleasant surroundings and clutched his stomach in agony, his face scrunched up and eyes shut tightly: he had not eaten for days. The ongoing sound of the bell in his mind was torture and he stood upon his blistered feet, stumbling as he made his way to the bathroom, his eyesight unfocused and hazy.
The toilets had a strong, unpleasant stench flooding into his nostrils like water gushing into the sea, rapid and plentiful. He gagged uncontrollably as he made his way to a cubicle and to his surprise it was as revolting as the rest of the house.
