2. Sophie

It was Sophie's first time going to Splendor Plains. When they entered through the front door, she was surprised that there weren't many sparkles, but as she entered through another door, she saw the sparkle overload. Now I'm really thinking like Keefe, she thought.

The thought felt like a stab in her stomach, reminding her why she was here and she fought back a sob. 

"Keefe?" she called, hoping with all her heart that there would be a response from him. But, the only response she got was a grunt from someone in a room a couple doors down. 

That was when she saw Ro tied up on the floor, with a murderous look on her face.

"Where is Keefe?" Sophie asked as Grady untied Ro.

"I don't know." Ro grumbled as she got to her feet "He commanded me to sleep and when we woke me up I was tied up."

Sophie hugged herself, wishing she had Keefe to calm her down.

"He light leaped away," Ro added, "But I didn't get to see the color of the crystal, but he might have taken a stop before he hid himself."

Sophie felt hopeless. She didn't even get to say goodbye. And you might never see him again, her annoying brain told her, but she shot that thought down. 

"Where is Elwin?" Grady asked

"He went to Slurps and Burps to get more medical supplies" Ro replied, as Sophie took out Keefe's letter

"We can try to find a clue to where he went from this letter he left." Sophie's voice cracked. She realized how much she relied on Keefe to support her. 

Grady, and Ro joined Sophie to look over the letter. 

"Hold on," Ro said "He said 'I'm going to be hiding the same way the same way the Black Swan hid you.'"

"Yeah, what about it?" Grady asked

Ro sucked in a breath "Didn't the Black Swan hide you from the Neverseen by putting you with humans?"

Everyone stilled as they realized what that meant.

"Keefe is in the Forbidden Cities." Sophie mumbled
