December 12th, 2:34 P.M.

"So what do you want for Christmas?" Leo asked me as I stared into my coffee mug.

I shrugged, "I dunno."

"I mean like, from me." He sighed. "I want to get you something special."

I tried not to, but caught myself smiling.

"Cmon G, what can I get you?" He pouted.

I giggled, "Look, if you really want to get me something special then you need to think hard about it."

He nodded.

"So, by thinking hard I don't mean you think hard about asking me what I want," I laughed.

"Damn it," he sighed.

"It'll come to you." I nodded slowly. "Just takes time."

He smiled up at me before taking another sip of his coffee.

"So, I liked your instagram post last week." He smirked.

I looked up at him and gave him an expressionless look, in which he wiped the smirk off of his face.

"Cmon G. It was cute." He smiled.

I snorted, "Cute?"

"Yes," He laughed.

I smiled as I nodded and took a bite of my blueberry muffin.

"Tell me something I don't know." Leo said.

"Like what?" I asked.

"Maybe..." he trailed off. "What's your life motto?" He shrugged.

"My life motto?" I laughed.

"Yes...like what's one thing you've learned the past seventeen years of your life."

"...Can't be happy for too long before god smacks you in the face and tells you to fuck yourself." I shrugged.

"So what'd God do to fuck you over?" Leo asked me, hesitantly.

"Made me feel like I couldn't commit to anyone or pour out my feelings. Made me feel worthless, like absolute shit." I said quietly as I looked down at my coffee.

He looked up at me and leaned in to give me a tight, warm hug. As soon as I felt the comfort of his warm body I melted into his arms. He ran his hands through my hair lovingly. And that's when I realized,

Leo really is my best friend.

And if I hadn't told myself that, I would've never lost my fear of commitment towards someone else.
