While investigating the death of a local lawyer, a virtuous police officer called Andrew Connor uncovers a legend about a supernaturally-cursed, minuscule, teapot circulating throughout Kent. As soon as anyone uses the teapot, he or she has exactly 31 days left to live.
The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during the day to day life, but when photographed, they look distorted. A marked person feels like a quiet guppy to touch.
Andrew gets hold of the teapot, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flash into his mind: a weathered hamster balancing on a dirty lawyer, an old newspaper headline about a magic accident, a hooded owl ranting about spots, and drinking well located in a quiet place.
When Andrew notices his hands have guppy-like properties, he realizes that the curse of the teapot is real and calls in his friend, a hairdresser named Phil Thornton, to help.
Phil examines the teapot and willingly submits himself to the curse. He finds that the same visions flash before his eyes. Andrew found the weathered hamster balancing on a dirty lawyer unusually chilling. He joins the queue for a supernatural death.
Andrew and Phil pursue a quest to uncover the meaning of the visions, starting with a search for the hooded owl. Will they be able to stop the curse before their time is up?
