Chapter 3

Eleanorian

    After school we head to the clearing. "Didn't know you had it in you, El" Blaise says. What is he talking about? "Had what in me?" I ask with a puzzled look. "I didn't know you had it in you to talk to my sister like that, like a total badass!" Blaise says. "I knew she had it in her." Xavier say and gives me a sideways smile. Once we meet the clearing we start. By now I've learned to control it, unless someone talks about my father. That's the only thing that gets in my way. I've learned to use it even when I'm not mad. If I wanted to, I could use my powers to my advantage all the time. But I can't when my mom is around, or anyone else in that matter. We're practicing with the rock when Dakota walks into the clearing. "Hey what's u-." She doesn't finish her sentence when she sees the rock floating in the air. "Bloody hell!" She screams. I run over to her. "Hey, hey, calm down okay?" I say. She's hyperventilating. She calms down after a bit. "What the bloody hell did you just do?!" She asks. Blaise sighs. "Obviously you've watched Stranger Things right?" He asks. "No, sorry." She says. "At least tell me you know what telekinesis is." Xavier says. She nods. "Well she has that." I hear a gasp, but it's not from Dakota. I look over to where I heard the gasp, there's more people. Paris and Carmen. Carmen is another friend of mine. He used to be my all time best friend. Then Paris came along. Don't get me wrong, I love Paris. She's my best friend, but ever since she started dating Carmen they are always together. Paris looks at me. "Your joking! My best friend has telekinesis! Bruhh I wish I was you right now!" She says joking around. She should be happy she's not me. Carmen looks at me surprised. "Now that's fucking cool." He says smiling at me. "Okay okay! We get it, y'all think she's cool! But we got some work to do." Blaise says. "Now, if y'all ever tell a single soul about today, you might as well kill yourselves before I do. This is already enough people that know." Blaise say sternly. They all nod. I trust them to keep my secret. "Now, we almost never bring up her father, unless you want a deathbed like I almost got." Blaise says.

     We all go our separate ways home before dinner time. Once I get home I do my normal routine. But my sister Ulysses annoys me. "Hey Eweanowian!" She says my name incorrectly. She's only four, but I think that's old enough to learn my name. "What." I say annoyed. "Me hungy!" She says. "Ugh fine!" I say and cook dinner. Where the hell is my mom. I cook up some noodles and give them to her. She eats a couple bites then stops. "I don't want this." She says. "Just eat please!" I say begging. I leave her to sit at the table while I watch tv. I watch Stranger Things. This isn't my first time watching it. After Ulysses finishes I bring her upstairs for bedtime. She sleeps and I go to do homework.

    The next day at school we all sit down at the table. This time we all know my secret. So we can all talk about it. While we are just sitting we hear someone walk over. "Oh and we can all hang outtt-." I say trying to act like we're having a normal conversation. They walk over to the table across from ours. I look over. It's Quinnen. She's in my math class. She's sort of a loner. She doesn't have friends. She stares at me. I look away.

While I'm in math she sits next to me. I try to listen to Mr. Douglas, but I can't concentrate. I look over to my left. Quinnen. Why is she staring at me. I look at her. She doesn't take her glare off me. Whatever, I look away. The rest of class she just stares at me. "What?" I finally ask, trying to make it funny that she's staring. I smile, showing that I'm not mad. "Huh?" She asks. "Why do you keep staring at me?" I ask, smiling once again. Then the bell rings. She runs off so she doesn't have to answer. I just stand in the halls, speechless. "Hey whats up?" I hear someone ask, "What's up with that face?" I hear Xavier ask, staring at my puzzled face. "Oh, I- erm, never mind." I say smiling, then I head off.

Xavier

Something's up with Ellen. Why is she always smiling. No matter what we are talking about, I see her lost face, but when I ask she always smiles and hides something behind it. I've only known her for three days but I know how she is. She's not like this.

Eleanorian

    I'm locked in a lab. Doctors are doing experiments on me. Sticking needles in my arms. Checking my heart beat. Putting a gas tank over my mouth. I black out. I wake up in the doctor bed. "Why, hello there!" A man walks into the room. "LET ME GO!" I scream with trying to escape. There are bars holding me down onto the bed. "Now, now, Eleanor. I'm only trying to help. I'm going to cure you from your sickness." I keep fighting. "I don't have a sickness! LET ME GO!" I scream again. He walks over to my bed. "I know about the power you posses, Eleanor. I'm going to tell you a little secret ok?" I nod. "The powers you posses. They've been passed on. Your legacy ends here though, so no worries!" He says with an evil grin. Then all of a sudden the door is being banged on. "Hey dick head! Let us in!" I hear Blaise say. "Cmon open the door!" I hear Carmen say. "It's okay! We're here to save you!" I hear Dakota say. "Don't worry girl we're here!" Paris says. "Move outta the way!" Xavier says. I hear the banging on the door get louder. Xavier is trying to kick the metal door down. I stare hard and intensely at the door. Open! Open! Open! I scream and the door bursts open. Xavier dashes inside, he was making a run for it but before he got to the door I opened it. He stumbles inside when he doesn't feel his body press against the door. Everyone just stares for a second. Xavier gives me a weird smile. Why is he funny in all the times he shouldn't be? "Well done kids, you did it!" The doctor says, "You opened the door! You saved the day!" He says sarcastically. "Little do you children know, that door is what kept reality and Nightmare Land apart, well done kids." Then he takes a syringe out of his pocket, and stabs it into my arm. All my friends start screaming, I start screaming, the doctor starts chuckling, and I pass out as my friends are forced out of the room by doctors.

    Then I wake up.

3rd person pov

    All the friends had the same dream.

     They all wake up the next morning shocked. They all get up and get ready for school. Once they all get to school they keep their mouths shut. It was just a dream after all. Just a stupid nightmare.

    Ever since then, they all started having nightmares. All about the same doctor. All about being stuck in the hospital. All about Eleanorian being used as a test subject.
