Halloween

I head to school, I don't want to go. Halloween is tomorrow.

     Once we get there I head to my friend group. "We should all be something for Halloween!" Xavier says. "Bet, lets be Stranger Things characters." Blaise says. "Bruh. Seriously?" I say. "Yep you going to be El." He says. I roll my eyes.

Maybe this will be fun.

    The next day I head to school in the romper Eleven wore. Once I get there I see my friends costumes. Xavier is Dustin, Blaise is Mike, Carmen is Will, Dakota is Max, Paris is Nancy, and I'm El.

     We walk in the halls together. It feels good to have a group of friends. Even if we were basically forced to be friends by fate. "We should go Trick or treating together!" Paris suggested. "That sounds great!" I say. Everyone agrees. We all decide to meet up at my house.

     At 7:00pm we meet up. I put on my makeup and we get going. Blaise thinks that since he's Mike we should stick together or something.  He keeps standing next to me.

    Later on, once we're all bored, we head back to my place. We have to cut through an alleyway if we want to be home at curfew. I stand in front.

   "Woah woah woah there young lady. Where do you think your going?" A man stands in our way with his thug friends. "Fuck off!" Blaise says, trying to push through. "Hahaha guys look at this kid! The strong, buff one!" The thug says. "Oh look! They're dressed as the kids from Stranger Things!" One of them says. "Move!" I yell. "Oh look! Little Eleven thinks she can do what she wants! Sucks you don't have powers like your little character there!" One of the thugs say. "I'm not fucking joking. Get lost before I get mad." I yell at them. They all burst into laughter. I look back at my group. I smile at them as I walk towards the thugs. They stop laughing and stare at me. I put my arms out and shove their leader into the wall. "Fuck! Lets go!" They yell. I grab one of them and hit them against the wall. They all run away faster. Then Xavier yells, "Yeah you better run! She's our friend and she's crazy!" We all burst into laughter after his line. "You really messed him up!" Blaise says. I laugh as we head home.

     I ask my mom if they can sleepover. "Whatever." She says. "If you or your friends wake me up, your throat will be slit in the morning." She threatens. I roll my eyes and yell them its ok. They all sleepover.

   "Are you guys a little scared to go to sleep?..." Paris asks. We all nod slowly.

    Hours later we all decide to try and get some sleep.

    That was a mistake.

     One I wake up in my dream, we are all tied to chairs. "Tisk, tisk, tisk, I warned you all. I told you that you would be spared if you would just stay away from her. You disobeyed me. I hope you like living a life like your friend here. We are going to do experiments on all of you. We hope you don't mind having abilities in the way of your life!" I look at them all. They look afraid. "Hmm... lets start with the tough one." Dr, Suza says. He walks over to Blaise. "Get your hands off him!" I yell. "Feisty one, you are." The doctor says. He injects a needle into Blaise. He falls asleep. Then he stabs them all with needles. "Ok let's give this one... shapeshifting." He says, pointing to Blaise. "Let's give this one... invisibility." He points to Carmen. Then the doctor goes to Xavier. "Super strength." He says. "This one can have electricity control." He points to Paris. "And this one..." He looks at Dakota. "How about mind control?" He says. "Okay that's it. You can all go now." Then I wake up.

Everyone wakes up with their powers

I go to school, afraid of what to think.

Once I get there I go to the spot where we usually go to before school. They aren't there yet. Usually they get to school early as I do.

Twenty minutes later they start piling in. "Do you guys remember the dream?" I ask. They all nod. "Are you all... okay?" I ask. They all sit for a minute, then shake their heads. Oh god. "Meet in the clearing after school." Blaise tells us as the bell rings.

After school we sit in the clearing. "Who's going first?" Carmen asks. "Going first for what?" I ask. They all sigh. "I'll go." Xavier says. We all watch as he walks over to a tree. He wraps his arms around it. For a second, I think he's hugging it. Then he picks it up from off the ground. "HOLY SHIT!" I yell. Everyone gasps as he sets it back down. Then Dakota gets up. I feel myself walking towards her. Why am I walking towards her? "Mind control." She says. I walk back to my seat, surprised. Carmen stands up. And then he's gone. He's just gone. "Carmen?!" I yell. Then he appears next to me. Then Paris stands up. Her whole body looks like it's being electrocuted. Sparks fly all around her. Then she touches me. I feel a shock. It's not a hurtful one though. But I bet she could do one. Then Blaise stands up. Then it's not Blaise anymore, it's a Lion. He roars and then turns back into himself. "Woah!" I say. He smiles.
