"Oh, I'm so late!" Kara says to herself as she rushes into the elevator. She was supposed to be at work five minutes ago. Five minutes too long for Cat Grant to wait for her latte and sushi wrap.

Cat Grant is the embodiment of feminin power. She radiates it, and it is the only other radiation Kara absorbs on a daily basis. She's been his assistant for almost seven years now and the fear she feels when she's late never goes away. Out of everything Kara has faced, Cat Grant has to be the one thing she truly worries about.

"Kiera!" Kara hears Cat screech from two floors up. Kara's eyes widen and she hits the elevator button rapidly. "C'mon! C'mon!" Finally, the elevator stops in her floor and Kara runs out and over to Ms. Grant's office. "I'm here! I'm sorry I'm so late!" Cat watches Kara place her latte in front of her, completely unamused.

"The line at the coffee shop was just so long and then I got a call from my sister and I had to help her with-" Cat stands up and Kara stops speaking. Her lips snap shut and she looks at her through her glasses. "Keira, the entire world depends on me to be at my best, and I can't be at my best without my morning latte."

Kara nods rapidly. "I'm so-" Cat puts her finger up. "Stop apologizing. Really, it's giving me a headache." Kara nods and puts Ms. Grant's sushi wrap on the table. She shoos Kara away and the alien blonde scurries out of the room.

Winn Schott, Kara's best friend, leans back in his chair and smirks at Kara as she sits at her desk. "What was it this time?" Kara glances at him and sighs. "Some guy was trying to get his pet pigeon." Winn lets out a laugh and Kara glares at him. "Pigeon? Really?" Kara shrugs. "Don't ask me. I had to chase it around until it perched under a highway."

Kara rubs at her hand. "It bit me." Winn's face lights up with amusement. "Girl of Steel: Taken down by a pigeon." Kara scowls as she gets to work. "I hate pigeons."

Winn looks up at the TV above his desk. On it is a news report of an earthquake and massive sinkhole in New Mexico. "You know what happened there?" He asks as he glances at Kara. She looks at the TV and narrows her eyes. "It was a S.H.I.E.L.D base. Alex was there when it went down. She said she'd call me if they needed anything."

Winn nods and smirks at Kara. "Until then," Kara glances at him. "Team Supergirl a go?" Kara cringes and looks back to her work. "Stop calling us that." Winn gapes at her. "Oh c'mon! You know you love it." Kara shakes her head with her eyebrows raised. "I don't." She whispers, but Winn hears it.

Steve Rogers sighs as he looks up at the massive Stark Tower before him. He looks to the drawing of it in his notebook and fixes a few details. He's only been back a few months, but boy have things changed. He almost couldn't recognize New York and it was where he grew up.

Nick Fury got him a small apartment in Brooklyn to help him ease into the modern times. It hasn't been easy, but he's getting there. First thing he did was go out in search of any gyms that reminded him of the times before the ice.

Luckily he managed to find one and made a deal with the owner. He said yes because- Who was going to say no to Captain America?

One thing Steve missed the most was his old friends. Bucky, Dum Dum, all the other members of the Howling Commandos, but most of all: Peggy Carter. The woman he fell in love with so long ago. To him it felt like a blink, but when he saw Peggy for the first time since he was pulled from the ice the cruel reality hit him.

She grew old. Peggy couldn't even remember him when he visited her. It hurt him to see her like that, but he was glad to know she lived happily. She had a family of her own and found love again.

Steve didn't think he would manage that for himself. Love. He got lucky with Peggy, but he doubted he would find it again. No one would treat him as Steve Rogers. All people saw now was the Captain. The war hero that 'died' for his country.

Steve never wanted that. He never wanted to be famous. He just wanted to fight for what he believed in.

Steve sighs and stands for the table he was sitting at. He tosses a $5 bill on the table, then walks away. It's times like these, when he gets lost in thought, that he wishes he could drink.

Suddenly something flies above him creating a breeze. Steve looks up in alarm as he sees what looks like a person flying. He stares for a moment. Is he losing his mind?

Kara sighs happily as she flies through the city. She loves this. The feeling of wind in her hair, the world at her fingertips- It's incredible. She doesn't know why she didn't become Supergirl sooner.

"Kara." Kara slows her flight and her hand reaches to the commlink in her ear. It's Alex. "We need you to come in. It's about the Avengers." Kara blinks in surprise. "Really? I thought the idea was scrapped." Kara starts flying towards the S.H.I.E.L.D base. "I thought so too, but the tesseract was stolen. Barton's been compromised."

Kara's mouth falls open, then determination falls upon her features. "I'm on my way." Kara blasts past the sound barrier.
