Random stuff in Sky: Children of the Light

The King Headcanons / Lore

I've been wanting to type this up for a while now. I don't know what you may think of them, but I'm just gonna write them up anyways.

This isn't confirmed Sky Lore, but is my interpretation of it.

The headcanons will be in chronological order based on the Sky timeline.

~~~Part 1 - The Ascent of Alef ~~~

You know that The King has two names? Alef and Resh. Well, they're two different people, with Alef being the first King.

When the Elders fell, Alef also fell with them.

Alef was assigned to be the Elder of Eden, as he was the most powerful. He had the power to commune with The Darkness, and thus, establish peace and balance between the light and the dark.

As time went on, The Darkness became more demanding. It wanted to spread, to corrupt. Alef tried to prevent this, but the darkness corrupted his core.

Under its control, Alef crowned himself under the title of The King. He unleashed The Darkness upon the realms, creating Darkness-tainted beasts from the bodies of former Light Creatures.

The Elders declared war on The King, and a great battle took place in Eden. The Dark Creatures were contained and The King was defeated.

Before his death, The Darkness spoke through The King:
"We may have lost the battle,
But we haven't lost the war.
We will return."

Without an Elder to maintain it, Eden grew out of control.

~~~Part 2 - The Rise of Resh~~~

Seasons after Alef's defeat, a star fell in the Isle of Dawn. (Check out the Ushering Stargazer's spirit memories. It'll make sense.)

This new star was sent down from The Light Beyond. Before the star fell, The Elders received a vision in Orbit: A bird-masked individual plucked a star from the sky and handed to them.

The star was raised in the Isle, where they had to complete the trials to prove their worth as well as receive the four wisdoms of the Prophets; Patience, Resilience, Balance and Courage.

Once they were ready, they finally earned their name: Resh, a symbol of a new beginning.

Resh was taken to Eden, where he used his power to tame the storm and to bring balance back to the Kingdom.

But The Darkness' vow wasn't broken. The spirit of The King, angry and looking for vengance, possessed Resh, and the Kingdom was plunged into eternal darkness.

Alef's little eldritch pets began to awaken, breaking from the sands of the Wasteland where they were put to sleep. The Elders began to make preperations for the next war, this time, taking place in the Golden Wasteland. This was to prevent the Dark Creatures from going to Eden, where they will gain the power needed to become Pure Dark Beasts.

Resh went to the Golden Wasteland to fight The Elders.

The war ended with The Elders' deaths. The Darkness had finally won. The Darkness left Resh's body.
"Look at all this." It hissed. "You certainly live up to your name. This is a new beginning."
