"Dream! Where are you going?"
"Oh, I was just going on a walk..."
Fundy hadn't seen Dream all day and he really wanted to spend some time with him. He missed the light kisses and the warmth of the blondes hand in his. Now he just needed an excuse to be together with him.
"How about we take a stroll in L'Manburg?", the fox said, excitedly.
Dream gave him a questioning gaze and asked, "What are we gonna do there?"
"Uhh-How about we go buy flowers from the flower shop!"
"Sure. Why not?"
They intertwined their hands as they made theirs way through the small country. They walked in a comfortable silence, neither one wanting to make eye contact. Arriving at the shop, Fundy opened the door for Dream and they headed inside. Dream gasped as bright colors popped into his vision from every direction. Niki greeted them and made small talk as they scanned the assortments of flowers.
Dream mumbled, "I would love to buy some of these for George..."
Fundy's head snapped towards his partner. "What?! Who did you just say?"
Dream panicked for a moment before stuttering out, "I-I meant for y-you—my tongue j-just slipped up. Haha."
Nikki gave him a glare before picking out a nice bouquet for the couple. Fundy might be gullible on most occasions, but he wasn't gonna let this go. Something was up with his fiancé, he knew it.
A few weeks later, he goes mining with his friend Ranboo. The two mostly looked around and told each other funny stories for most of the time. Fundy finished telling a story about him and Tubbo before Ranboo gave him the truth.
"Look, Fundy...I don't think Dream is right for you."
Fundy was stunned and looked at the taller boy a few seconds. He turned away and asked, "Why do you say that?"
Ranboo gave him a sad look before telling him, "Dream... he's cheating on you."
To Ranboo's surprise, Fundy didn't look too shocked. "With...George right?"
The fox looked down as his friend walked over to hug him. After a few moments, Fundy began crying into his friend's shoulder while they tried to comfort him. When the tears finally stopped, he couldn't tell how long they had been there for. "Thank you... for telling me."
Ranboo gave him a concerned look. "Are you okay?"
"I'll be fine.", Fundy said sadly. They walked all the way back to the portal and parted ways in the over-world.
After a while, he realized that he lived in the same house as his "fiancé". He really didn't want to see him right now. There were a number of things he would love to do: puke, run away, scream, cry his eyes out, bang his head on a wall. Seeing his (ex) fiancé was not one of them. Even though it was nearly midnight, he grabbed some building supplies and got to work.
He found a good spot in a forest where he could see the stars that littered the night sky. The sky was breathtaking and they provided a gently shine over the clearing. He began stacking stone blocks, chopping down wood, and finishing the house until his hands felt numb. He wanted to collapse from exhaustion, but he willed himself on to stop the thoughts. But they kept coming and he couldn't run from it forever. So why was he trying..?
Just then, he hears a twig snap. Before he could turn around, strong arms wrapped around his waist. On instinct, he swung his arm and got a good hit on his captor. The moon shined over the field as he saw the man who broke his heart standing there, dumbfounded. A bruise began to form on his cheek and at any other time, Fundy would have felt a little guilty.
"Fundy... it's just me, relax.", the blonde said calmly. He has never seen the small fox so agitated before.
"... it's because it is you.", Fundy cried.
The green-eyed man approached cautiously to calm him fiancé, but at every attempt, Fundy lashed out at him.
At some point, both figures had started crying as they started each other in the eyes. Again, the blonde tried to make peace.
"What's wrong..? Did something happen?"
My life fucking happened. Fundy thought.
"I...", he couldn't say it, "...I think we need a break."
"What..? What do you mean 'a break'?"
"I just need some time... alone."
No more words were said. Dream didn't question when Fundy ignored him. He didn't question when Fundy moved out. Of course, he doesn't care! Why would he? He doesn't love you! Fundy pushed those thoughts away. He didn't need Dream. He was an independent adult. A badass one too.
Slowly, he got better, but the situation with Dream was still unresolved. Did they break up? Not technically. Did they still love each other? Fundy did, but he didn't know about Dream. Are they getting married? The wedding was planned already... Finally, he built up the courage to talk to Dream.
"Hey..Dream."
Dream turned around, stunned. "Fundy..? Omg. You're finally talking to me! I missed you so much!" He started ranting about the things he did and what they're house looked like. Fundy decided that he would get over Dream eventually. He just had to find the right moment to break up with him. Part of him hoped that Dream would choose him over George somehow.
Time skip to Valentine's Day. The one day of the year where couples could show off and get discounts everywhere. The two of them were invited to a Valentine dance, which of course, they agreed to go. They got all dressed up for the party and even took a few shots if you know what I mean. 😏
When they got there, the place was packed with people already and the lights were dimmed down. They bumped into people who were a bit too tipsy, this was already starting to look like a club more than a dance. They weaved through the crowd with their hands interlaced. Over the sea of heads, they managed to spot they familiar faces. It was George and Minx. The other couple pushed towards them while Fundy said something about getting drinks. He made his way towards the tables, being smushed against people in every direction. He managed to get to the drink area and chugged a cup of alcohol to calm his mind.
Zoning back in, he realized that a girl came over and sat next to him. He has no idea what to do and just say there, blushing profusely. They began chatting about trivial things and they immediately began clicking with one another. Downing a few drinks with his new-found companion, Fundy was a bit too tipsy for his liking. About ten minutes later, when they were more sober the pretty girl asked off they could kiss. His mind immediately flashed to Dream, but that went away quickly. They're probably making out right now so who cares. He turned to the girl and leaned in. It was a soft kiss, one that felt caring and he felt his heart flutter. They pulled apart after a few seconds and the girl suggested karaoke. Fundy reluctantly agreed as his heart was on fire. The girl grabbed his hand and partly dragged him to the stage. He didn't know he had to sing in front of everyone. He looked back at the girl who was smiling hopefully at him. Why not give it a shot?
Smiling at the girl, he walked into the stage where the spotlight immediately turned on. His head was buzzing and it didn't help that bright lights were shining in his face. Looking around, he grabbed a random guitar and walked to the mic. The crowd hushed and looked at him expectedly. Scanning the crowd, he spotted the familiar faces near the back of the room and shot his (ex) fiancé a glare.
Dream felt worried yet relieved when Fundy walked on stage. He hadn't returned from the bar for almost half an hour. But when Fundy glared at him, it felt as of he was seeing right through him and his game of charades. That can't be right... Does Fundy know..?
All of a sudden, he began strumming a familiar tune and the crowd roared to life. The crowd began chanting the first verse of "I kissed a girl" by Katy Perry. It was hard to keep up with the right chords since his head was fuzzy, but years of hidden practice had paid off. The chorus was coming up and, still making eye contact with a certain someone, he took a breath. Tears began pricking at the corners of his eyes, but he didn't care.
"Caught my attention!" Looking away from the crowd and facing the now impressed girl he sang.
"I kissed a girl and I liked it!" The girl began blushing profusely, but her eyes were looking straight at him. When was the last time his lover did that for him..?
"Taste of her cherry chapstick..." He sang seductively and winked at her. 😉 (Do not recommend searching it up. I'm traumatized.)
Dream suddenly felt a wave of possessiveness come over him. Fundy cheated on me?! That's when he figured out that Fundy knew about him and George. He loved George... not Fundy... right? Sure, the fox was cute, his laugh was adorable, he did everything for Dream, and he deserved the world... Fuck...I do love him. I'm so stupid. He left their spot in the room and pushed to the crowd, all the way to the stage.
"I kissed a girl just try it..." For Fundy, this was true. He never expected to find a beautiful lady like this at a party and end up kissing her. Honestly, he always thought he was gay up until this day.
"I hope my boyfriend don't mind it." Who am I kidding? He's probably making out with his best friend.
The song was almost over by then, but he couldn't wait a moment longer. Dream felt a rush of anger as that line was delivered beautifully. He stormed on stage and grabbed Fundy by the arm, dragging him towards the exit. The guitar and microphone were abandoned near the steps of the stage.
"Dream! Dream! You're hurting me!" Fundy resisted, but froze when Dream turned around. The American was emitting an aura of anger and jealousy. The fox has never seen Dream this pissed off before. The latter let go of the small wrist and faced the shorter of the two. They made eye contact before Fundy spoke up shakily.
"Look...I know that you're cheating on me so let's just be done with this. The wedding's off. We're done." Green eyes stared at him for a moment, contemplating the gravity of the words spoken. "In fact, I've known for a while now." , Fundy looked right through him. "Fundy...I do love you it's just-", Dream started before Fundy cut him off with, "I don't need your excuses. It's not that we deserve better, we just deserve different people." Fundy briskly walked away and Dream left not too long after that.
