third person pov

a few hours later

(l/n) yawned as she walked beside tsukishima . the rest of the team laughs with each other while he looks down at her sleepy eyes. suga nudges daichi with his elbow and the team turns to look at the pair. nishinoya and tanaka can't tell if they're jealous or happy, either way they're basically about to explode. the team can barely contain themselves until (l/n) looks up at them.

"is something wrong?" she asks, dumbfounded. everyone looks away and pretends to not hear her. tsukishima just scoffs at them.

"nope! no! nothing at all!" everyone stammers and looks away quickly. (l/n) nods, not thinking too much of it. tsukishima on the other hand was quite irritated. he didn't want them eyeballing her so much, only he could do that. just looking at (l/n)'s face made his heart flutter. nobody had made him feel so warm like her. it was no secret she practically him smitten, like a little puppy. but clearly (l/n) was too oblivious. who would've known someone like tsukishima could fall so hard for a girl?

everyone comes to a stop at a crossroad.

"we should go our own ways and head home now, it's been a fun day!" sugawara announces to the now extremely exhausted team.

"indeed. rest well and see you all on Monday." daichi adds on.

they all nod and mutter in agreement and say their goodbyes.

"tsukishima, you'll walk (l/n) home right?" sugawara teases.

"wha- fine. we live close anyways.." tsukishima mutters as if he wasn't planning on walking her home regardless.

sugawara gives him a cheeky wink and waves goodbye.

"tch, what a bother they are.." he thinks to himself.

"hey tsuk'shma... how far is home??" (l/n) yawns while practically asleep. her tired body still gripping onto tsukishima for dear life.

"not that far. if you're tired just.. i'll carry you. i guess." he mutters. she barely hears.

a long sigh escapes from his mouth as he kneels down, and motions for her to get on his back. (l/n), who's too tired to argue gets on with no complaint and he carries her home.

he can't help but melt in her sweet strawberry scented perfume. which was one of the things he'd fallen for. she never failed to captivate his attention with her fragrant aroma. after all, his favorite things were strawberries and her, especially her. lots of girls had flocked over to him before but he never payed a single thought to them, saw them as pests who'd never leave him alone. until she entered his life it's as though he saw the world a little brighter than before. it's as if he was the grinch, and meeting her made his heart grow 3 times bigger.

as he walks onto her porch and rings the doorbell, a tall man opens the door with an enraged face. tsukishima realizes he's messed up. she wakes up suddenly and scrambles to get down from his back.

"dad wait i-" he doesn't let her finish and yanks her by the arm.

"stay away from my daughter. don't ever come back here ever again." he slams the door shut on his face. (l/n) tries to explain but he doesn't listen.

"i sent you to this school to study, yet you go whoring yourself out? you should be ashamed of yourself." he yells at her.

"what? that's not what i was doing! he was just-"

"just go to your room. get out of my sight. from now on you're grounded. you will always be home before 4:30pm."

"but-"

"go."

she makes her way up the stairs, holding back the waterfalls because she knows better than to waste her emotions on a person she can barely call her father. he's never been there for her, he's expected so much but never gave anything back. she's been put up on a high pedestal since the moment she was born. she was brought into the world as a trophy for her parents, at least that's what she believes.

it's funny how such a sweet moment could be ruined by one small mistake. (l/n) takes her phone and texts tsukishima.

i'm so sorry, i didn't know he'd be
home tonight :(

i silently wait for a reply back.  i turn my phone off and just decide to get ready for bed instead of laying down aimlessly waiting for a text back. i wipe off my makeup and do my skincare routine. i fix up my hair a little and call it a day.

*ding*

i basically leap right over to my phone expecting a reply from tsukki, instead i'm met with something worse.
