Alix: 19 years old

present

"Alix! Alix! Alix!"

"AH!" I got startled by the loud voice and woke up. I looked over to my right. "Master O?"

Master O crossed his arms and said, "Get out of bed. You have a lot to do since you've been slacking off. Tsk tsk." I rolled my eyes and pointed out the widow. "It's barely even dawn. Ugh. Just let me sleep for a little while." I threw a small tantrum and went back to bed. Master O went out. A few minutes later, I heard a noise from one of the rooms. Master O went back inside my room and hit me with a broom.

"Alright, Alright." I got out of bed and went downstairs. I saw on the kitchen table that Master O had cooked me eggs and ham. While we were eating, I asked him "Master, you've been teaching me how to fight and do all those stuff for six years. When will I get to use them on people?" That was the same question I had asked him everyday for the last two months. He paused eating, looked at me and unsurprisingly said, "When the time comes." which he has been saying every time I ask that question.

We finally finished eating. So, I went outside and took Rocco for a stroll around the village. Master O gave me twice my allowance this time. I bought a lot of stuff for me, Master and Rocco. I went back home for martial arts training. To be honest I think I'm already an expert at this. I can jump really high, break thick pieces of wood or metal, but most of all, I'm a great cook.

My hair has been turning white faster recently and the more it turns white, the stronger I get. Now, the only black hair that I have left is just a strand. This has got to be some type of magic or whatever. What Master has been teaching these past few months is to be calm, peaceful and balanced since I'm really strong. If I'm not peaceful, I could do some real damage.

--After a while of training--

"Phew! I'm done." Everything was so tiring. I'm glad it's done. "Great job kiddo! We'll start again tomorrow." Master O smiled and patted in the back. "It's getting late now. Go to bed. We'll start again tomorrow." Master always sleeps late because he cuts wood at night.

I got a shower and went to bed.

I don't know why but I couldn't sleep. I kept twisting and turning and changing positions. So, whenever this happens, I'll always have this urge to read mom's letter. I would go up the roof and gaze at the stars and sleep under the moonlight. That way, my dreams would be happy and I would forget about the letter. I would remind myself about the day I arrived here in this island.

--Flashback to the past: The day she arrived at the island--

After a while of feeling the cool breeze, it rained heavily. Big waves were crashing and the wind was swirling. It was cold and I could barely see. I had this crippling fear of drowning. I didn't know what to do. I held tightly onto Rocco and prayed for my soul. The wind was too strong so, I couldn't take a good grasp. My body felt ice cold and my heartbeat accelerated. I couldn't hold anymore and fell unto the water.

I couldn't breathe. I stared up above and thought to myself that this is definitely the end. But I grabbed on the my last breath had a sudden urge to wake up and keep trying. My heart never beat this fast. My adrenaline was getting stronger. I lifted my arms and started reaching for the light above the water. I reached and reached and reached until I finally reached it. I was breathing heavily as I got my head above the water. I was stranded at sea. I called out to Rocco and before I knew it, he was already behind me. Rocco helped me get on him and the moment I got up, I noticed I was dry. I looked around and saw a blue sky and white happy clouds. I got confused. Maybe the whole thing was just my imagination. It was smooth sailing afterwards.
